Salary: £50,000 p/a + Company Car (Travel to other sites)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Site Manager to work for our client at their site In Wolverhampton, the role will cover their portfolio of sites across the UK and the role of the Works Manager is to take a job from the contract signed all the way to the satisfactory delivery of the project.
The role includes achieving a full understanding of the contract, splitting the jobs into trades specific tasks, defining sub-contracts where appropriate, instructing our in-house supervisors, and making sure all jobs are performed safely, on-time, on budget and with quality.
Duties and responsibilities would include:
- Read and understand the full scope of the expected work.
- Agree the general methodology of the delivery with the Technical Director
- Organize, split and specify the job for each trade and/or supervisor contributing to the full scope.
- Coordinate the delivery, keeping track of time, quality and budget.
- Report on progress, both internally and to the client.
- Pro-actively bring solutions to unexpected problems.
- Deliver the contract, seeking full satisfaction from the client.
- On occasions, the Works manager will also assist with writing documents for tenders.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
- Experienced with the requirement of the Pressure Equipment Directive and related quality requirements
- Qualified in leading UK Health & Safety schemes
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, P&ID and isometrics
- Analytical Skills: Works managers must be good at planning for large-scale, multi-step projects.
- Decision Making: Works managers must make many decisions, such as picking subcontractors, materials, paints, and more.
- Management Skills: As the boss on site, Works managers must lead their teams, and keep them motivated and focused on the job.
- Communication: Works managers need good writing and speaking skills when communicating with employees, subcontractors, clients, but also when writing proposals or procuring materials.
- Technical Skills: Works managers must know construction methodologies, read blueprints and understand other technical aspects of construction.
- Time-Management: Deadlines are crucial in construction. Making sure that everything is on time and moving smoothly is a critical part of the job.
- To be able to work hours that are needed in-order to complete the work load
- To be flexible and work on different sites and different times – travelling to multiple sites regularly is a large part of the job
