Jonathan Lee Recruitment has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Tool Maker to join our client's inclusive and welcoming team. This full-time Tool Maker role is based in Telford and offers an attractive salary and enhancements.

Shift: 

As a Tool Maker, you will be responsible for the maintenance of tooling and supporting the Toolroom Supervisor in the smooth running of the facility. You will have a wide and varied role ranging from attending unplanned breakdowns on tooling equipment to implementing daily preventative maintenance.

If you were already in this role, here are some of the areas you would have been working in this week:

  • Preparing and maintaining existing tooling according to requirements
  • Identifying day-to-day tooling issues and implementing corrective action where required
  • Cleaning all production tooling to meet on-time delivery and schedule adherence goals
  • Ensuring all tooling is safe and production-ready when returned for production use, following the correct preventative maintenance process
  • Supporting coordination of engineering changes and supporting maintenance of spare parts.

To succeed in this flexible role, you should have a relevant time-served apprenticeship together with excellent hand tool skills and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings. Other essential requirements include:

  • Experience working with tool room equipment including overhead cranes
  • Experience in inspection equipment
  • Previous repair of press tools, jig and fixtures or mould tools
  • Experience using milling machines, lathe, surface grinder, bench grinder, etc
  • Ability to follow the preventative maintenance programme
  • Industry experience including the following is all being considered - press / stamping / injection moulding / Automotive / packaging / domestic tool room / contract tool room

This role will suit machinists with tool room experience, tooling or tool room supervisor experience with a background in tool and die repair and maintenance or CNC machining and  jig, fixture and tool making.

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Perceived Quality Engineer who has the ability to provide feasibility inputs to Engineering and Design as part of the conceptual and early Engineering phases of new vehicle programmes.        

The role of Perceived Quality Engineer will support the Lead Engineers covering interior trim development especially during the early stages of design.  This will involve communication with cross functional teams both in the UK and Asia, (internal and external) while embracing the strategic requirements and objectives to identify areas for improvement across all facets of the business.   

As a Perceived Quality Engineer, you will be charged with;

  • Supporting on request for part / assembly maturation process. Root cause analysis support for production / design related concerns for TML.
  • Reviewing and validating of system integration for Exterior / Interior themes.
  • Developing of PQ techniques and processes.
  • Supporting Mentorship and knowledge transfer to PQ methods and Processes.

Main duties and skills required for the Perceived Quality Engineer will be;

  • Create and manipulate geometry for primary communication of Gap / Rad Planning PQ Requirements. (Expectation is at least 50%-time utilisation will be for geometry generation)
  • 2D data & sectional data. (Key module utilisation: Part design & Geometric Surface design) TCUA (Team Centre) PLM utilisation is desirable
  • Generation and development of the PQ activities for Ext / Int Trim
  • Support Lead PQ / Integration Engineer on complete vehicle activities
  • Generation and maintenance of the Gap & Rad Plan
  • Support the Lead in Mentorship of engineering team in understanding and applying designs and engineering execution which achieves PQ targets.
  • Support the Lead in performing digital reviews and sign-off events for PQ related activities, for Exterior / interior systems.
  • Development of Product Attribute Targets (PAT) based upon the Product Attribute PALS positioning for PQ
  • Develop scope of work with key deliverables identified.
  • Assist with the Benchmarking of competitor vehicles & reporting findings.
  • Support Optical Quality & Perceived Quality development & assessment activities.
  • Work with PQ and with the PQ Team to agree future joint standards, processes and guidelines.
