Powertrain Resident Engineer

Milton Keynes

An opportunity to work for a consultancy who are a market leader in their field, they are looking for a talented and motivated Powertrain Resident Engineer to become a crucial part of their team.

The company offers a range of engineering services which include vehicle integration, calibration, and homologation for advanced internal combustion engines, hybrid powertrains, and EV’s. This role is based near Milton Keynes and offering an excellent salary with benefits and the opportunity to work on a variety of powertrain projects for clients around Europe.

As Powertrain Resident Engineer, you will oversee the daily operations of Test Cells, ensuring efficient and effective management of the testing processes.

What You Will Do as Powertrain Resident Engineer:

  • Communicating with customers to ensure the accuracy of the test plan
  • Writing detailed test specifications
  • Developing test scripts, either from scratch or by modifying existing components
  • Supporting the installation of test objects into test rigs
  • Commissioning test objects within the Test Cells
  • Maintaining engines and Test Cells
  • Programming and monitoring drive cycles
  • Managing hydrogen programs for internal combustion engines (ICE) and fuel cells (FC)
  • Interpreting project targets and writing corresponding test specifications

What You Will Bring as Powertrain Resident Engineer:

  • A relevant degree with proven industry experience
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engine operating principles, ideally with hands-on experience in engine strip down, repair, and assembly
  • Understanding of fuel injection, ignition, and emission component operation
  • Knowledge of powertrain systems (e.g., fuel, ignition, and emissions)
  • Experience in test bed operation and test bed control systems
  • Proficiency in using engineering software such as Inca, UniPlot, and MatLab
  • Capability to operate and modify complex Excel files for data analysis tasks
