Jonathan Lee Recruitment recently had the pleasure of supporting Harper Adams University‘s second-year engineering students as they prepared for their third-year work placements. It was a day filled with energy, enthusiasm, and valuable learning experiences, and we’re thrilled to have been part of it.

The event began with a warm welcome from James Croxford, (Senior Lecturer and Course Tutor, Harper Adams University) before he handed over to Jonathan Lee Recruitment’s Business Development Director Jason Cole, Associate Director Matt Johnson and Principal Consultant James Coggins who kicked things off with a brief presentation about Jonathan Lee Recruitment. They shared insights into who we are and what we do within the engineering sector, highlighting our longstanding expertise in connecting top talent with leading companies across various engineering disciplines. It was a great opportunity to introduce ourselves to the students and set the stage for the day’s activities.

Following the presentation, the “speed mentoring” style CV workshop began. Throughout the day, our recruitment specialists worked with students in quick, focused sessions, providing tailored advice on how to enhance their CVs. The goal was to help them stand out in a competitive placement market and better position themselves for future career opportunities. It was inspiring to see the dedication and ambition of these young engineers, many of whom had already taken significant steps towards building their professional skills.

The enthusiasm of the students was contagious, and their eagerness to learn made the event even more rewarding. It was clear that James Croxford and team have done a fantastic job guiding these students and preparing them for the challenges of the engineering industry. The quality of the CVs we reviewed and the insightful questions the students asked demonstrated their commitment to making the most of their placement year.

Days like yesterday remind us why we’re so passionate about what we do. Helping to shape the careers of future engineers and seeing firsthand the talent and potential they possess leaves us feeling optimistic about the future of the industry.

Here’s to a bright future for the next generation of engineers!
