Sales Manager

In support of an SME UK based manufacturing Group, a new role of Sales Manager is required to support the growth of new and existing business by developing existing accounts and attracting new customers. Working between their Gloucestershire and Kent manufacturing sites on a hybrid basis as required, you will need a good knowledge of precision machining and manufacturing to support this role.

To be considered, you will have a demonstrable track record in managing a sales department of circa 4 people with a proven ability to set and meet ambitious sales targets to meet business objectives. Running an internally developed CRM system, this position has the immediate requirement to fill machining capacity from inside and outside of the aerospace sector in support of their machining/milling, processing and painting/coating capability (NADCAP). Similar sectors such as rail, medical and defence - as well as others - are targetable.

Machining to customer designs and specifications, the Sales Manager will:

-    Manage the sales team and process to plan and direct all sales activities, focusing on increasing sales order intake across the Dartford and Tewkesbury sites

-    Work with the Managing Director to develop a robust sales strategy and business development plan to deliver 1-, 3- and 5-year growth targets

-    Develop and manage a marketing strategy to increase awareness of the Company and its market-leading expertise

-    Report weekly and monthly sales performance and activity against agreed targets

-    Manage the quotation process to provide quotes on time and to the companies required financial targets

-    Identify new business opportunities through meetings, networking and other channels to achieve the targets agreed in the development plan

-    Create, maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned individual account support, and liaison with internal order-processing staff 

-    Manage the use and effectiveness of our customer and prospect database 

-    Build and develop strong on-going relationships with clients and internal teams 

-    Represent the Company at trade exhibitions and shows 

-    Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development 

-    Provide the customer with the best advice and information relating to their manufacturing needs

-    Support 5S, LEAN and any other initiatives the Company may instigate as part of the continuous improvement drive. 

-    Follow the Company's Health & safety Policy, ensuring that responsibilities to oneself and others are discharged, e.g. wear appropriate PPE. Follow and implement the Company's Environmental Policy.

-    Carry out any other additional duties required for the role, as required by management.

To support this role, you will need:

-    Experience in a senior commercially focused role; managing an auditable internal process and delivering against targets

-    Demonstrable ability to direct marketing activities to increase sales, including the use of social media and company website

-    Ability to think critically and creatively to identify prospective sales opportunities

-    Knowledge of precision engineering and machining to a good working level

-    Sales experience with a drive to seek new business

-    Strong verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of executive summary reports

-    Proven ability to manage a team 

-    A professional, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is committed to excellent customer service 

-    Have excellent planning and organisational skills 

-    Accomplished at building relationships, negotiating and influencing 

-    Ability to accurately report on sales pipeline 

-    Able to develop relationships with customers and inspire confidence in the company and its products and services 

-    Willing and able to travel across the region and between offices when required 

-    Basic understanding of the requirements of AS9100

-    High level of computer literacy; ability to use general office applications and internal applications relevant to role

-    Understanding of Health & Safety responsibilities
