At Jonathan Lee Recruitment, we are always inspired by the dedication and commitment of our team, both professionally and personally. One individual who exemplifies this is Pete Heap, our Principal Recruitment Consultant and Armed Forces Covenant Champion. Last year, Pete completed an extraordinary challenge—climbing the 1,334 ft Wrekin Hill in Shropshire 100 times to raise funds for the Veterans’ Cafe at Telford Mind. Now, in 2025, Pete is embarking on a brand-new challenge: swimming an incredible 100,000 metres for the same cause!
A Commitment to Veterans’ Wellbeing
The Veterans’ Cafe and Well-being Hub, run by Telford Mind, provides a vital space for military veterans to connect, share experiences, and receive support. As a military veteran himself, with 20 years of service, Pete understands first-hand the importance of such a facility.
Speaking about his motivation, Pete said:
“The Veterans’ Cafe and Well-being Hub is a fantastic service offered by Telford Mind, and as a veteran myself, I know how valuable it is to have a place where you can talk to people who truly understand. It’s a space for support, advice, and genuine connection.”
His passion for supporting the veteran community is also shared by his wife, Louise, the CEO of Telford Mind. Louise and her operations team have been instrumental in establishing the Veterans’ Hub, ensuring that those who have served their country have access to the support and camaraderie they need.
A New Challenge: 100,000 Metres in the Water
After conquering the Wrekin 100 Challenge, Pete wanted to push himself in a different way for 2025. His new mission? To swim a staggering 100,000 metres over the course of the year, once again raising vital funds for the Veterans’ Well-being Hub.
“This year, I thought I would switch it up and swim 100,000 meters instead. All for the same cause, for the Veterans’ Well-being Hub/Cafes that are run by Telford Mind, and also for my own personal reasons.”
Pete’s determination and dedication are truly inspiring, and we are proud to support him every stroke of the way.
Backed by Jonathan Lee Recruitment
Pete’s incredible efforts have not gone unnoticed. Once again, Jonathan Lee Recruitment’s Chairman, Jonathan Lee, and Managing Director, David Hale have pledged their support. Just as they did last year, they have committed to backing Pete’s challenge, with a generous donation of £2,000 upon completion.
A huge thank you to both Jonathan and David for their continued generosity in supporting such a worthy cause.
Support Pete’s Challenge
As Pete takes on this remarkable new challenge, we encourage everyone to get behind him and show their support. Every donation makes a difference in ensuring that the Veterans’ Well-being Hub continues to provide essential services for those who have served our country.
