Title: Project Design Engineer
Location: Kidderminster, West Midlands
Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a Project Design Engineer, to work for our client at their site in Kidderminster, this is an exciting opportunity that has arisen and would suit someone who is a self-motivated individual who would like to join their established Engineering department.
The role will be responsible for various ongoing projects including the cost-effective design, material procurement, instigation, control and compilation and submission of all associated engineering documentation.
Job Summary:
- Shall be fully committed to the achievement of the company policies and objectives with attention to quality, safety & environment
- Will undertake reasonable instructions from senior personnel in the best interests of the company
- Assisting Sales in the preparation of quotation drawings/documentation (workload permitting)
- Assisting in the development of new equipment/new product ranges (workload permitting)
- Assisting in the creation of standard 3D models and library parts (workload permitting)
- Creating cost effective designs by integration of common parts and standardisation of components
- Producing General Arrangement drawings, Manufacturing drawings and Technical Specifications
- Producing 3D models for estimating weights, volumes, interferences, determining complex geometry, etc.
- Verification of designs by calculations and/or FEA/CFD (analysis to be carried out under supervision)
- Designing products that are safe and in accordance with Health & Safely legislation
- Designing products that comply with applicable design codes, e.g. ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, etc.
- Designing products that comply with applicable governing legislation, e.g. 2014/68/EU (PED)
- Producing material requisitions to ensure all material/quantity/technical requirements are identified
- Using standard components and referencing part numbers from the company system, where possible
- Instigation and ongoing control of projects/contracts from Sales hand-over through to delivery.
- Organisation of the duties, tasks & workload of engineers assisting on larger contracts.
- Liaison with Quality/Production to ensure ‘sub-contract’ and ‘in-house’ activity is considered and controlled
- Supervising workshop personnel and/or sub-contractors, as required Documentation
- Organisation and preparation of all engineering documentation requirements, as required by the contract
- Submission of required contract documentation to client/third party, via the Documentation department
Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum GCSE Grade 5 (equivalent grade C) or higher in Maths & English
- HNC in Mechanical Engineering essential
- Essential knowledge of Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, Excel) required
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat
- AutoCad experience essential SolidWorks & 3D Modelling
- ASME PV code knowledge preferred (i.e. ASME VIII)
- Knowledge of manufacturing, welding, piping and materials essential
- Experience of working within the Oil & Gas industry preferred
- Experience of filters, strainers and pressure vessels preferred.

Job Title: Project Manager – Super Grid Transformers (132kV–400kV)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager with a minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering complex projects in the energy sector. This role focuses on Super Grid Transformer projects (132kV–400kV), covering design, build, supply, installation, and commissioning. Direct experience with leading transformer manufacturers and delivery for major UK Distribution Network Operators is essential.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead transformer design, installation, testing, and commissioning projects, prioritizing safety, quality, and timely delivery.

Oversee design reviews, securing client/consultant approvals in line with project schedules.

Ensure compliance with HSE/CDM regulations and embed robust risk and quality management practices. Ensure Transportation, Installation, and Commissioning RAMS are developed, reviewed, submitted, and accepted.

Communicate effectively with internal and external teams in the UK and overseas factories to ensure equipment is manufactured, tested (FAT), and dispatched on schedule.

Coordinate with hauliers to manage inland transportation, offloading, skidding, and positioning. Manage subcontractor engagement for installation and commissioning.

Manage contracts under NEC3/NEC4 frameworks, including subcontractor agreements, supplier payments, and project documentation.

The Role
- As Senior Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineer, you will take technical ownership of mechanical and electrical engineering activities across commercial production lines. Working closely with international partners, external engineering consultancies, and key suppliers, you will influence design decisions from concept through to commissioning.
- You will be trusted as a technical authority, balancing innovation with safety, compliance, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical and electrical engineering activities supporting the detailed design and development of commercial-scale production lines
- Collaborate with US and EU partners and UK-based engineering consultants across the full project lifecycle—from concept, through installation and commissioning
- Produce, review, and challenge in-house mechanical and electrical designs using modern CAD tools, delivering high-quality drawing packs including:
- Manufacturing drawings
- General arrangements and sub-assemblies
- P&IDs, PFDs, single-line diagrams, and service connection drawings
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest engineering and quality standards
- Lead prototyping and design verification testing to support optimisation, cost reduction, and continuous improvement
- Work closely with module suppliers and leading electrical equipment providers (e.g. ABB, Siemens, Rockwell) on equipment design, manufacture, and control software packages
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance with international standards and regulations (ISO, IEC, ASME/ASTM, CE, UKCA, ATEX, etc.)
- Integrate new technologies into existing and future production lines, supporting fault-finding and performance enhancement
- Develop and review maintenance schedules for in-house modules
- Support the ongoing development, maintenance, and operation of the UK pilot plant

Experience & Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Experience designing plant machinery within chemical, process, or heavy industrial environments
- Proven experience in a senior engineering role, demonstrating leadership and successful project delivery
- Strong electro-mechanical design capability, including production of manufacturing drawings and P&IDs
- Knowledge of machinery design for explosive environments (ATEX) and participation in HAZOP studies
- Working knowledge of international standards and regulations (ISO, IEC, ASME/ASTM, CE, UKCA, PED, ATEX)
- Understanding of industrial control systems, including PLC/HMI concepts, three-phase motors, and VFDs

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Act as design authority for electrical engineering across multiple projects and sectors.
- Lead, undertake, and review complex electrical designs including LV/HV systems, lighting, emergency lighting, power distribution, standby generation, UPS, earthing, lightning protection, and specialist systems.
- Set and maintain technical standards, specifications, and design procedures aligned with CIBSE, IET, British Standards, and relevant statutory requirements, including local bylaws.
- Provide technical direction during feasibility, concept, detailed design, and construction stages.
- Conduct independent technical reviews, surveys/audits, progress monitoring, snagging and dilapidation inspections, and peer reviews of project outputs; prepare concise written reports.
