Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off – Days & Nights (6am–6pm / 6pm–6am)

We are recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, for our client, to join their hands-on, in-house engineering team.

The ideal candidate will come from a heavy‑industry manufacturing background and will have experience working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician or Shift Engineer, maintaining large industrial plant in a safety‑critical environment.

The Role:

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Maintenance Fitter), you will play a key role in keeping production equipment running smoothly. From planned preventative maintenance (PPM)to breakdown response and fault finding, you will be working with a variety of specialised machinery in a fast-paced industrial environment.

This is a varied and practical role that will allow you to use and develop a wide range of skills, including fitting, fabrication, welding and servicing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance on plant and production equipment
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs
  • Fault find and diagnose issues on hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
  • Bearing fitting and alignment
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and reliability
  • Support continuous improvement and reduction of downtime
  • Work effectively as part of a shift-based maintenance team

About You:

You will be a mechanically biased maintenance engineer with experience working within manufacturing or heavy industry environments. You will enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and working within a busy production setting, along with:

  • A Level 3 qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • Experience within manufacturing / heavy industry environments
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental best practice
  • Diagnostics experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and drive systems
  • Arc & MIG welding and basic fabrication
  • Knowledge of cutting and grinding regulations
  • Bearing fitting and alignment experience
  • Being comfortable with demanding maintenance work
