Project Manager – Electronics - Permanent – Devon – Attractive   A Project Manager - Electronics is required to join an International aerospace and defence company with a solid background within Electronic components for complex systems. Project Managers with experience of working in the Aerospace and Defence sectors or the Safety Critical Industry would be well received. Due to this company’s continued success, a leading manufacturer of complex aerospace and defence safety systems based in the Devon area requires a proactive and dynamic Project Manager - Electronics for a new permanent role where experience of strict standards and regulations is a must. The Project Manager - Electronics will join the Engineering Department to participate in the management, execution, and delivery of engineering activities, relating to the generation of a new range of products for use in company applications. As the Project Manager - Electronics you will be responsible for the following: Contribute directly to product development activities. Ensuring that project development activities are coordinated efficiently. Undertake direct management and reporting of key projects. Ensure that product activities are completed within project budget and time frame. Produce and review resource forecasts and manage any resource requirements. Manage product development projects. Ensure compliance with the NPI (New Product Introduction) process. Ensure engagement/communication with all relevant internal/external stakeholders. Co-ordinate product development activities through a multi-disciplinary engineering team. Hands on contribution to all elements of the engineering life-cycle. Identify and implement process and productivity improvements. Assist in the generation and review of bids and proposals. Work with the Engineering Management Team to ensure targets are met. The Project Manager - Electronics should have the following Qualifications Skills or Experience: HND or Degree in Electronics, Software, Systems, Physics, or a related discipline. Proven Project Management experience is essential. Qualification to PRINCE2, APMP or PMP is advantageous. A demonstrable record of product delivery in a multi-discipline engineering environment. Proven practising engineer in a chosen engineering discipline. Experience of working in a design environment within safety critical environment. Experience of product development activity would be advantageous. Understanding of sensor interface, embedded computing, and user interface design. Software development life-cycle management to DO-178 is advantageous. An excellent communicator and be able to operate effectively at all levels. Experience with requirements capture, design, implementation, and verification. Knowledge of qualification, compliance, and support activities. Knowledge of electronic product certification to EMC and Environmental Standards. Ability to work independently using initiative and innovation to solve technical problems. Willingness for occasional UK and International travel. Willingness to accept responsibility and accountability. Honest and realistic in reporting project quality, cost, and schedule. The successful Senior Satcoms Systems Engineer will be involved in establishing the requirements, overall system design, validation, and assurance of the next generation satellite systems. The Senior Satcoms Systems Engineer will be working with cutting-edge technology and innovation from different communications sectors including 5G and Optical communications. The Senior Satcoms Systems Engineer will assist with the requirements development, architectural design, modelling and validation of complex commercial and military Satcom networks. The Responsibilities for the Senior Satcoms Systems Engineer Develop and maintain space & ground segment requirements for LEO, MEO and GEO Satcom systems. Carry out requirement modelling and trade-off analysis to establish requirements. Develop system and service architectures for next generation Satcom networks. Using a Model Based Systems Engineering Approach over the System Development Lifecycle. Develop and maintain link budgets using basic and more advanced model-based techniques. Capacity design and performance analysis of Satcoms payloads, networks, and related services. Contribute to the system design of satellite network constellations including GEO, MEO and LEO. Simulation of satellite communications networks and payloads in support of the above. Attend, and constructively contribute to, meetings with customers and partners. Undertake other appropriate duties as directed by authorised managers. Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required for the Senior Satcoms Systems Engineer Chartered Engineer or equivalent preferred. University degree ideally within Electronics or Communications Systems. Experience of working as an integral part of a highly focused Systems Engineering team. Track record of taking full responsibility for the delivery of critical system components. Evidence of being able to develop innovative and efficient solutions. Proven ability to produce clear and concise presentations and technical documentation. Good customer-facing and communication skills. Ability to influence senior stakeholders and gain consensus to drive through change. Experience of Systems Engineering of satellite communications networks. Experience of satellite communications network system design for LEO. MEO and GEO systems. Experience of Systems Engineering of complex Satellite Systems programmes. Understanding of through-life Assurance and Acceptance activities. Knowledge of the resource planning and delivery of communications services over satellite networks. Knowledge of the operating framework used by satellite communications. Experience in design and assessing software, firmware, and hardware solutions. Overall system design including transparent and regenerative payload designs. Experience and knowledge of security architecture design principles. Knowledge of Software Defined Radio, Digital Satellite Payloads, and communications devices. Experience of military satellite communications networks operating in stressed environments. Experience with Network and Service Management technologies and developing SLAs.
