James has worked within the automotive and off highway division since joining the business in November 2013.

The primary focus of this position is the development of detailed component cost models and high level cost estimates for existing parts, new parts and competitor parts. Cost models account for all costs drivers associated with the manufacture and supply of components. The creation of models and estimates will involve the application of your existing manufacturing/engineering and product knowledge, or through detailed investigation of the desired process and technology. The completed analysis sets the baseline that will help identify cost reduction opportunities/projects for subsequent delivery through Strategic Cost Management or NPI teams. You will join an Engine Systems and software team who are responsible for development and implementation of electrical and electronic control systems for diesel engines. The successful candidate will be working on a several projects to develop software that meets both regulatory and customer requirements.. Key Responsibilities: This role is the primary technical support for the Electronic system. It entails proactively working with other Electronics team members and with development partners to: Provide technical support to queries related to pinouts, schematic questions, software functionality support Investigate /Analyse / troubleshoot any reported quality issues. Raise and propose changes or improvements to components/system or processes. Create or modify software flashfiles based on approved requests and guidance from the Technical Lead. Engine Performance Validation Engineer Up to £36.00 per hour Peterborough Off Highway We currently have a new and exciting opportunity for an Engine Performance Validation Engineer to join a global OEM based in Peterborough. This innovative team is responsible for developing novel engineering solutions and processes working collaboratively with internal and industrial partners as well as will their overseas sister teams. The team leads the development and validation of the engine performance installed in customer applications for our clients entire Medium Engine range, this includes global process responsibility for software, calibration and certification. Key Responsiblilites: Building HiL, Engine test and Machine test / fleet validation plans for sign-off of the engine performance. Complete in-depth data analysis of multiple data sources to proactively identify potential fault codes, software, calibration or engine capability issues. Triage potential engine performance issues and lead the resolution of the most complex system interaction issues. Provide engineering guidance to the product teams, including software status / sign-off. Self-management of assigned tasks to agreed customer critical requirements, delivering high quality work to documented or novel processes within agreed timescales. Work with multi-disciplinary teams to support continuous improvement in response to current and future customer needs. Close liaison with performance and mechanical development engineers, engine designers and project teams.
