Automation Service Engineer

Are you a skilled and experienced automation professional looking to join a dynamic team and work on cutting-edge projects? We have an exciting opportunity for an Automation Service Engineer wokring across a variety of industry sectors (predominantly in food and beverage and plastic container handling).

In this senior role, you will be responsible for electrical installation, machinery commissioning, and post-purchase servicing and breakdown support for our automation systems. You will work both in-house and on-site at customer locations, typically travelling for up to 3 weeks at a time.

Key Responsibilities:
- Install control panels and lead the on-site build of machines and automation systems
- Ensure smooth installation and commissioning of automation projects
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly to maintain customer satisfaction
- Interpret engineering drawings (electrical and mechanical) to support project delivery
- Work with pneumatic systems, valves, and industrial control systems/PLC programming
- Collaborate with a friendly and hardworking team to deliver high-quality results

Qualifications and Skills:
- Apprentice-trained and/or qualified as an industrial electrical fitter
- Extensive experience with automation machinery and industrial control systems
- Strong understanding of industrial networks and ability to interpret technical drawings
- Proficient in working with pneumatic systems and valves
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a 'can-do' attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to travel regularly within the UK, Ireland, and North America
- UK/EU passport holder with no restrictions on travel to North America
- Full UK driving license with 3 penalty points or less

What You Will Do:

 

- Manage goods-in processes, ensuring accurate system input and efficient movement of materials.

- Safely unload and load vehicles, maintaining a seamless flow of inventory.

- Issue materials to work orders and ensure system accuracy for stock and inventory management.

- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve invoice queries and support operational needs.

- Maintain a clean and organised stores environment, adhering to safety standards.

 

What You Will Bring:

 

- A proven background in stores/warehouse or material control

An update to Bendi / Flexi forklift truck license.

Must be in a position to pass a baseline security check.  

A methodical and organised approach to work with strong attention to detail.

- Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

- Flexibility and a proactive attitude, with a commitment to problem-solving.

- Experience in stores or inventory management

- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with multiple internal stakeholders.

We are currently recruiting for a skilled Assembly Operative / Composite Trimmer to join a composite manufacturing facility in Northampton.

We are looking for candidates with proven experience in trimming high-quality carbon-fibre components, working with adhesives, and assembling parts using high-powered air tools. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work effectively within a small team, and demonstrate a strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate high-powered air tools and trimming equipment
  • Assemble composite components to specification
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Carry out quality checks and inspections to ensure parts meet required standards
  • Adhere to all health & safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment

Initially this contract role is being offered on a part time basis – 30 hours a week, with an immediate start available.  Due to up-and-coming projects this role could be extended for the right candidate.

Profile:

· Completed Multi-skilled Apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.

· Mechanical and Electrical maintenance experience.

· Logical thinker with a good approach to problem solving.

· Proactive approach to safety.

· Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high attention to detail.

· Working knowledge of PLC hardware, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.

Advantageous:

· Experience within Tissue/Paper industry.

· NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical maintenance.

· PLC/Robot Cell programming and or Fault finding experience.

· 18th Edition.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday - 06:00 - 14:00 & 14:00 - 22:00
