European Business Development Manager - Aerospace

Our client is a global supplier of investment castings/castings, precision machining and added value process capabilities (AS9100/NADCAP etc..) and have manufacturing plants in Asia, Europe and North America. In support of their continued development of existing and future aerospace, energy and medical customers, working from a remote home basis in the UK, this position of European Business Development Manager is focused on customer and market engagement along with business growth, primarily targeting the OE, Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels.

The European Business Development Manager's responsibilities include:

  • Supporting our client's further development of core relationships within the UK and European aerospace, energy (IGT) and medical sectors; with an emphasis on developing suitable aerospace clients in particular.
  • Managing and further developing existing relationships with clients in the UK and Europe. 
  • Supporting the introduction and growth of our clients' capabilities into other aerospace, energy and medical programmes.
  • Understand key market trends & programmes in the UK and European aerospace/energy/medical sectors and support successful company positioning.
  • Strategically identify new business opportunities including new customers and partners and identify product requirements to support successful market engagement.
  • Engage at a mid to senior level, working closely with the existing global technical and operational teams to support:
    • Opportunity identification
    • Bid and tender delivery
    • Programme integration and development
    • Communication and customer support
    • Target added-value content
  • Establish and deliver sales growth.
  • Support business strategies for markets and customers.
  • Customer relationship management - build and maintain enduring relationships with customers and users gauging their needs and developing proposals to address these.
  • Attend conferences and events to build relationships with customers and partners, representing our client where required in the UK and Europe.
  • Provide the organisation with competitor news and data along with providing direction on requirements to support business wins.
  • Work closely with the senior management team within the organisation to support further UK and European success.

Suitable candidates will need to have existing relationships within the UK and European aerospace sector primarily, but where possible, also have exposure to the IGT/energy and medical sectors. This role requires significant travel and customer facing engagement on a 'hunting' and key account management basis.

Candidates should have a suitable technical level (ideally to degree level), and proven senior level commercial strength which supports direct and successful customer engagement, discussion and negotiation.

This is a permanent role and has a core strategic focus working closely with this firmly established and qualified, privately owned supplier. This role is ideally to be home based in England.

What You'll Be Doing

As Buyer, you'll play a critical role in delivering new programmes on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading sourcing activities for new product programmes, from supplier selection through to contract award.
  • Negotiating commercial agreements, pricing and long-term supplier contracts that deliver exceptional value.
  • Developing and implementing commodity strategies that support business growth and future technology programmes.
  • Building strong, strategic relationships with suppliers while driving performance improvements and cost optimisation.
  • Working closely with Engineering, Programme Management and Operations throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Managing supplier readiness and industrialisation activities to ensure successful programme launches.
  • Supporting production by resolving commercial and supply chain challenges quickly and effectively.
  • Analysing market trends, raw material indices and commercial data to make informed sourcing decisions.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, cost reduction and supply chain optimisation.
  • Supporting prototype, experimental and future technology projects where required.
  • Acting as a key escalation point for supplier and logistics issues.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of procurement processes and best practice across the business.

What We're Looking For

You'll be an experienced procurement professional who enjoys balancing commercial negotiation with technical collaboration.

We're interested in people who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a Buyer or Commodity Buyer position.
  • Experience within automotive, engineering or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing cost drivers and cost reduction methodologies.
  • Experience interpreting raw material markets, pricing indices and commercial data.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive, organised approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Desirable Experience

  • Tier 1 Automotive experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
  • MCIPS qualified or currently studying towards CIPS.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and basic electrical faults during the night shift to minimise downtime.

  • A BTEC Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Understanding of TPM and PPM systems, plus familiarity with COSHH.
  • Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to repair production equipment safely and effectively.
  • Basic IT capability, with confidence using tools such as Outlook and Excel.

 

This Maintenance Engineer position helps the company deliver products and solutions to customers by protecting production equipment and facilities during the night shift. The work directly supports safe operations, high standards of housekeeping, and compliance with health and safety procedures, including lock out tag out (LOTO). Are you an experienced Virtual Build Engineer, Virtual Build and Integration Engineer, Virtual Build Simulation Engineer, Manufacturing Feasibility Engineer, Digital Manufacturing Engineer, Manufacturing Process Simulation Engineer or Assembly Simulation Engineer seeking a new job, and do you have a proven background within the Automotive sector (Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Automotive)?!

We are looking for 2 experienced Virtual Build Engineers to join a long-standing and well established manufacturing business in Woking (Surrey), the working hours are 8.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday (paid 40 hour week), and the roles come with an annual salary ranging between £40,000 - £52,000 per annum (DOE).

The hiring manager would prefer people who have experience with 3DX Cad Systems, but they will consider people who have previous experience with Catia.

The company can offer a relocation package between £3,000 - £5,000 should you be prepared to relocate to Surrey, however please be advised that sponsorship can not be offered at this stage.

This will be a 2 stage interview process, the first stage being a teams call, before inviting you in on site for a formal 2nd interview and factory tour.

What You Will Do:

  • Own and continually improve the Virtual Build Engineer process and its execution across new projects
  • Carry out fitment studies and support manufacturing feasibility DMU analysis for vehicle components and potential variants
  • Validate tooling access to fasteners, and perform virtual ergonomic checks for line operator reachability and comfort
  • Create and manage Virtual Build timing plans to ensure MDP deliverables are met on time
  • Review vehicle specific BOMs (E-BOM and M-BOM) ahead of Virtual Build events, then coordinate build station allocation with Manufacturing Engineering teams
  • Chair and deliver Virtual Build events, collate Virtual Status reports, and drive resolution of open Virtual Build items

What You Will Bring:

  • Previous experience within a similar role - ESSENTIAL
  • Strong 3D CAD capability, 3DX or VPM experience would be preferred, but experience with CATIA V5 or V6 would be considered
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint, for analysis, reporting, and stakeholder communication
  • Confidence in project-style delivery, including safe working practices, structured problem-solving, and attention to detail
  • A practical mindset for working across design and engineering teams, with flexibility for travel to off-site development facilities across the UK and Europe

Desirable:

  • A degree in either Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
