QUALITY ENGINEER REQUIRED IN SANDBACH, CHESHIRE!!

Are you a Quality Engineer seeking a new job opportunity, do you have knowledge of automotive core tools and experience with 8D problem solving?!

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer with a minimum of 3 years experience to join an Engineering business in Sandbach (Cheshire), this role is doing day shifts Monday to Friday (39 hours per week), and the salary is paying between £40,000 - £45,000 (DOE).

The hiring manager is looking for someone who has experience within the welding / fabrication / sheet metal industry, a CSWIP 3.0 or 3.1 certification would be highly advantageous but is not essential.

A HNC qualification or higher in an Engineering discipline would be preferred but is not essential.

We are looking for someone who possesses the following experience:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (including GD&T).
  • Proficient in using basic measuring equipment (e.g., callipers, micrometres, gauges).
  • Working knowledge of automotive core tools:
    • PPAP, MSA, Control Plans, FMEA, SPC, APQP.
  • Experience with problem-solving tools and techniques (e.g., 8D reports).
  • Proven experience handling customer and internal quality issues.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

What You Will Do:

  • Interpret and analyse engineering drawings, including GD&T, to ensure precision and accuracy.
  • Utilise essential measuring equipment such as callipers, micrometres, and gauges to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Apply your knowledge of automotive core tools, including PPAP, MSA, Control Plans, FMEA, SPC, and APQP, to drive quality assurance.
  • Manage and resolve customer and internal quality issues using effective problem-solving techniques like 8D reports.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems to maintain the highest levels of operational excellence.

What You Will Bring:

  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings with confidence and precision.
  • Hands-on experience with quality assurance tools and techniques, including automotive core tools and problem-solving methodologies.
  • A strong understanding of ISO 9001 standards and their application within a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and data reporting tools.
  • Experience in welding or fabrication environments and familiarity with advanced inspection equipment would be advantageous.

Desirable Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience in welding/fabrication environments (CSWIP 3.0 or 3.1 certification advantageous).
  • Advanced use of measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Experience managing or coordinating a calibration system.
  • Understanding of compliance systems such as IMDS.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 requirements or internal auditing experience.
  • HNC or higher in an Engineering discipline.

2 x PRODUCTION TEAM LEADERS NEEDED IN SANDBACH, CHESHIRE!!!

Do you have experience from within the Sheet Metal, Fabrication or Steel industry, and have you previously worked on a CNC Laser / Trumpf Laser / Amada Laser machine or managed a team of staff who have this skill set?!

We are looking for 2 experienced Production Team Leaders who have previous laser experience to join a leading engineering business in Sandbach, Cheshire.

One person will be required to work a permanent morning shift (6am-2pm with an earlier finish Friday), and the other person will be required to work a permanent afternoon shift (2pm-10pm with an earler finish Friday), 43.5 hours per week.ish

The annual salary will depend on the experience you have and the shift you worked, the annual salary for the AM shift will range between £38,000 - £43,000 per annum, and the salary for afternoons will range between £42,500 - £47,500 per annum (DOE).

The hiring manager is looking for someone who holds a minimum of an ILM Level 3 or CMI Level 3 qualification, as well as someone who has had previous machine experience on a Laser (preferably Trumpf).

An NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing or CNC Machining would be highly advantageous, as well as a H&S certificate such as IOSH.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and motivate a small team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring production targets are met.
  • Organise and manage daily operations for Trumpf CNC laser machines, focusing on quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct handovers between shifts, ensuring smooth communication and continuity.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain laser cutting machinery, addressing any technical issues promptly.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD files to guide production processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, supporting team development and operational enhancements.

What You Will Bring:

  • Proven experience operating and setting a CNC laser machine.
  • Minimum of an ILM Level 3 or CMI Level 3 qualification.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate a team.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, or CNC Machining (preferred)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, production tracking tools, and laser cutting parameters.
  • Health & Safety certification, such as IOSH Managing Safely, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment. (preferred)

Job Description

  • Programming, setting & operating Mazak Integrex & QT machines.
  • Producing a wide & varied range of highly toleranced parts which are used in the manufacture of Mazak CNC machines.
  • Understand Mazatrol CNC controls & be able to program/edit/improve existing & new parts.
  • Work within a team of fellow engineers to strict health & safety guidelines & rules.
  • Play your part in promoting positive culture amongst staff by engaging in H&S improvements & kaizen initiatives.

Essential Criteria

  • Have a solid understanding of setting & operating CNC controlled lathes.
  • Can demonstrate & have experience of safely using CNC controls.

A Project Manager is needed for an established supplier of engineering solutions for the defence sector. They specialise in the design, manufacture and support of control systems, and power systems for defence platforms within the safety critical and harsh environment domain.

The Project Manager will lead a portfolio of complex engineering projects ranging low value projects lasting a few weeks to multimillion pound lasting several years. The Project Manager will be professionally qualified through experience, ideally from an engineering background and hold a degree in an engineering discipline.

The Project Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the front line of the UK's national security, working to help protect the nation by managing projects to design and manufacture equipment for the defence sector.

The Project Manager will be the driving force behind each project, providing direction and clarity of purpose to the project team, managing tasks and milestone delivery, and driving progress and the project pace.

Key Duties for the Project Manager

  • Owning the delivery of a portfolio of projects through full life-cycle by applying proactive project management.
  • Planning, agreeing, and implementing a project delivery strategy, creating detailed plans to manage resources and tasks.
  • Ensure outcomes are compliant, delivered on schedule, on budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Being the primary point of contact for all stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Ensuring all team members are motivated, and project momentum is maintained.
  • Managing projects in line with policies, codes of practice and standards to ensure customer requirements are fully met.
  • Ensure that key functions are in place including scopes of work, processes, delivery, reporting and reviews.
  • Create and maintain project management documentation including project plans, and Gantt charts, etc.
  • Maintain the project scope, identifying any changes to requirements and reporting to commercial team as appropriate.
  • Monitoring project progress, audit activity and regularly update project management software.
  • Provide all stakeholders with regular updates on progress, risks, budgets, and decisions.
  • Produce weekly and monthly management reports as required.
  • Provide the board of directors with accurate monthly project update reports for your portfolio.
  • Design and manage work packages to ensure project deliverables are submitted to schedule and required standards.

Key Skills/Experience Required for the Project Manager

  • Experience in a similar project management role, delivering complex, multi-stakeholder projects in engineering.
  • Familiarity with proven project methodologies but also able to be flexible and to use common sense.
  • Significant practical experience and preferably experience of working in the defence sector.
  • Ideally experience of managing defence sector customer projects with understanding of business systems and cultures.
  • Honours degree or HNC/HND/Project Management qualification in engineering and experience as a project manager.
  • Must have good understanding of engineering principles, engineering practices, and related issues.
  • Self-motivated, positive, confident, self-assured, and highly articulate.
  • Able to prioritise tasks, identified required actions and make decisions that balance commercial priorities, technical constraints, and customer needs within a complex and pressured environment.
  • Ability to think laterally, solve problems, develop creative solutions, and identify root causes to blockers.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mind set.
  • Abel to promote collaboration – work closely with technical, operational, and commercial teams.
  • Able to remain focused and effective under pressure, to multi-task and deliver work accurately and to schedule.
  • Able to build lasting relationships and negotiate best outcomes with stakeholders at every level.
  • Excellent stakeholder manager, able to communicate and influence up to Director level.
  • Continuously improve to refine how to work, share best practice, and raise the bar for project excellence.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experienced using Teamwork Project Management would be a bonus.
