Process Operator / Production Operative / Assembly Operative
Location: Coventry
Shifts: Rotating – 6:00am–2:00pm / 2:00pm–10:00pm

The Role
Working as part of a busy production team, you’ll be involved in the preparation, assembly, and finishing of components across a range of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and handling raw materials for production
- Assembling components using hand tools and production equipment
- Carrying out lay-up and preparation of materials
- Loading and operating machinery including presses, ovens, and autoclaves
- Finishing, assembly, and quality checks on completed products
- Packing and labelling finished goods ready for dispatch
- Recording production data accurately

Job Description
- Removing burr's & sharp edges form machined metal parts.
- Operating a forklift truck to deliver parts etc.
- Carry out some basic transactional work on PC's.

Essential Criteria

- Can demonstrate a self-motivated attitude & can-do attitude.

Desirable Criteria
- Have prior experience of using forklift trucks & removing sharp edges with hand tools.
The role will be on day shifts.

PRODUCTION OPERATIVE NEEDED IN TELFORD, SHROPSHIRE!!
Do you have previous experience working within a manufacturing environment, are you looking for a job that could lead to a full time contract, and are you able to get to Hortonwood?!
We are seeking a Production Operative for a well established manufacturing business based in the Hortonwood area of Telford, Shropshire, the working hours for this job will initially be day shifts (7.45am – 4.15pm Monday to Thursday , 8.00am – 1.00pm Friday) - 37 hours per week, but after a 12 week probation period you will move onto a rotating 6-2/2-10 shift pattern Monday to Friday.
The starting rate of pay is £13.10 per hour whilst working on day shifts, but once you move onto a permanent contract and the rotating shift pattern, your pay rate will increase to £15.74 per hour (which includes a shift allowance), with the top end pay rate being £16.18 per hour once you are fully trained and signed off as a competent operator.
Previous experience from within the aerospace, automotive or electronics industry would be well received.
What You Will Do:
- Checking and cleaning parts before they are loaded onto the lamination machine
- Verify components against technical drawings to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Monitor machine performance and address any operational concerns.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing department to resolve quality issues.
- Ensure all components meet customer standards before progressing to the next production phase.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with company procedures
What You Will Bring:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.

What you'll be leading:
- Full operational responsibility for a complex melting department, including cupola and electric furnace operations

What we're looking for:
You'll likely come from a foundry, castings, metals, steel, iron, or heavy process manufacturing environment and bring:
- Proven leadership experience within melting, metallurgical, or foundry operations
- Strong knowledge of cupola and/or electric furnace processes
- A deep understanding of melt chemistry, process control, and metallurgical quality standards
- Experience using process data, thermal analysis, and operational metrics to drive decisions
- A track record of improving productivity, reducing waste, and delivering measurable cost savings
- Natural leadership capability, able to coach teams, challenge standards, and build accountability
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance within heavy industry
