Are you an experienced PLC Engineer looking to work on cutting-edge automated manufacturing equipment?

We’re hiring a Field Service Engineer / Maintenance Engineer to support highly advanced CNC and automation systems at a major aerospace facility in Bristol. This is a long-term, stable role where you’ll play a key part in keeping complex, high-value machinery running at peak performance.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Diagnose and repair faults on special purpose CNC machines and PLC-controlled equipment (Siemens, FANUC)
  • Carry out corrective maintenance, fault finding, and root cause analysis
  • Perform machine calibration, alignment, and optimisation
  • Support and oversee preventive maintenance activities
  • Work closely with remote engineering teams to resolve technical issues
  • Maintain clear service reports and technical documentation
  • Act as the onsite technical expert in a customer-facing environment

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Advanced multi-axis CNC machinery
  • Siemens Sinumerik & TIA Portal PLC systems
  • FANUC robotics and automation systems
  • High-precision equipment used in aerospace manufacturing

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience as a Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, CNC Engineer, or Automation Engineer
  • Strong fault-finding skills on CNC machines and/or PLC systems
  • Experience with Siemens PLC (TIA Portal) or similar platforms
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance experience
  • Comfortable working independently in an onsite, customer-facing role

Nice to Have (Not Essential)

  • Experience with FANUC robots
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing
  • Exposure to automated fibre placement or tape laying systems

  • A team player with enthusiasm, flexibility, and a desire to learn new technology.

  • An effective communicator who can follow standards, give direction, and challenge when necessary.
  • Experience in FMCG, food, or processing environments is an advantage — but not essential.

The Role

As an Assembly Operative, you will play a key role in the day‑to‑day production and assembly process, supporting the manufacture of precision composite components. Working to detailed work instructions, you will contribute to safe, efficient and high‑quality output across multiple production stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and finish composite components in line with production schedules and quality standards.
  • Prepare, handle and load raw materials and components for use within the production process.
  • Place cut materials and sub‑components into tooling, moulds and fixtures accurately and consistently.
  • Operate manufacturing equipment such as presses, ovens and autoclaves following standard operating procedures.
  • Carry out basic finishing, trimming and assembly tasks to meet specification requirements.
