My client is a specialist manufacturer of complex components and technical parts. They are seeking a Toolmaker to join their existing team. As a Toolmaker, you will create, repair, improve and maintain tools for production.

Toolmaker Responsibilities:

-          Work to engineering drawings and technical diagrams.

-          Use bench hand tools and tool room equipment to produce production tools.

-          Service and repair tools to prevent production downtime.

-          Adjust and customize tools for bespoke projects.

-          Provide technical support to other Toolmakers and the production team.

Toolmaker Requirements:

-          Must be a time served Toolmaker.

-          Previous experience working in a Toolmaking position.

-          Experienced in using bench hand tools and tool-room machinery.

-          Ability to read and work to engineering drawings.

-          Must be a team player.

What You Will Do:

  • Handle raw materials, ensuring their proper delivery and setup for work streams.
  • Accurately place cut material shapes into various tools including preform, moulding vac form, composite, and steel tooling.
  • Safely load tools, laminates, and preforms into compression presses, ovens, or autoclaves.
  • Carry out finishing and assembly of composite components.
  • Manage the packing and labelling of finished products.
  • Perform lay-up of composite materials and operate presses.
  • Accurately record production data as required.

What You Will Bring:

  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Lead Production Planner - Wolverhampton

Working within a specialist EDM, machining and grinding operation in the West Midlands, our firmly established client is seeking an experienced Lead Production Planner to support their ongoing machining activities from their Wolverhampton based site. Their activity is centred around the aerospace and IGT sectors in the UK and internationally.

Supporting the operations team in the planning and smooth running of production processes, you will be required to detail the materials and machines to be used, the labour to be used, the time required to do the job, and the quality standards to be met. This utilises modern manufacturing equipment/processes as well as experienced and established staff.

You will be mainly office based, with regular touchpoints with the shopfloor. The shopfloor presence will enable you to monitor throughput and discuss problems, such as a shortage of staff or materials and machinery breakdowns. There is an established operational management team.

Candidates must be good communicators, flexible with an excellent work ethic and be prepared to work hard in a fast-paced environment.

Specifically, you will:

  • Detail the necessary production equipment, raw materials (building BOM’s) and labour needs for production
  • Submit reports on throughput
  • Identify priority orders and plan accordingly to meet customer requirements
  • Work with Management to address any issues, setbacks or quality control concerns with the production process
  • Support the Purchasing team to anticipate raw material demands
  • Facilitate contract review meeting, discussing new production methods or ways to reduce production costs and increase company profits, as well as taking notes and assigning tasks
  • Prepare, complete and file production paperwork in line with ISO 9001 quality procedures
  • Other process administrative tasks relating to production planning and general operations
  • 5 years minimum of planning experience, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Other production and / or administrative related tasks may be introduced once settled.

The successful candidate should be able to collaborate well with others, as planning is a cross functional role. This individual will need to work with other departments, such as Engineering, Quality and Production, to coordinate and integrate production plans.

There will be a strong need to build and maintain good relationships with operators to ensure smooth and timely delivery of our products.

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to take ownership of commissioning activities across the full lifecycle of complex with bespoke engineering projects.

This is a key role responsible for developing and delivering commissioning strategies, leading testing activities, and acting as the commissioning authority across multidisciplinary teams. You will play a critical part in ensuring engineered solutions are tested, verified, and delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project and regulatory requirements.

The Role

As Commissioning Engineer, you will:

  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies for bespoke engineering projects.
  • Produce comprehensive test and commissioning documentation, including:
  • Pressure and proof load testing
  • Control panel inspections
  • Setting-to-work documentation
  • Safe systems of work
  • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
  • Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
  • Manage handovers between Manufacturing and Commissioning functions.
  • Lead and execute FAT and SAT activities, ensuring risk assessments, test equipment, and temporary commissioning aids are in place.
  • Identify and report non-conformities, supporting structured resolution processes.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are delivered safely, on time, and in line with project scope.
  • Support tendering activities by estimating commissioning scope, hours, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate and motivate commissioning and test engineers to achieve project objectives.

What We’re Looking For:

You will bring strong technical credibility combined with practical commissioning leadership experience.

Essential:

  • HNC (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline or higher qualification.
  • Extensive hands-on engineering experience.
  • Experience leading or managing commissioning teams.
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Understanding of relevant British and European Standards (e.g. BS7671).
  • Strong problem-solving ability and adaptability in dynamic project environments.

Role Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced Engineering / CAD Checker (Mechanical Design Checker) to take ownership of technical accuracy, compliance, and quality assurance across all engineering drawings, 3D models, and manufacturing documentation.
  • This is a key quality-critical engineering role ensuring all design outputs meet BS 8888 standards, GD&T requirements, ISO 9001 compliance, and manufacturability expectations before release to production and customers.
  • You will act as the final technical authority on engineering drawings and play a vital role in reducing errors, improving consistency, and supporting continuous improvement across the engineering function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Check and approve 2D drawings, 3D CAD models, BOMs, and engineering documentation for accuracy, clarity, and compliance
  • Verify GD&T application, tolerance stack-ups, datum structures, and limits & fits
  • Ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned to sheet metal fabrication constraints
  • Maintain and improve engineering drawing standards (including BS 8888 alignment)
  • Identify, record, and support resolution of engineering NCRs and drawing errors
  • Provide constructive feedback to design engineers to improve quality and consistency
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce rework and design-related defects
  • Ensure all outputs comply with ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Assist with technical input into tendering and estimating when required

About You

  • You are likely to come from one of the following backgrounds:
  • Senior CAD Technician / CAD Checker
  • Mechanical Design Engineer (manufacturing environment)
  • Engineering Quality / Design Review Engineer
  • Technical Draughtsman / Drawing Office Checker

Essential Experience

  • HNC/HND (with 10+ years) OR Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) with 6+ years’ experience
  • Strong background in industrial sheet metal or steel fabrication
  • Proven experience in CAD design checking or engineering drawing approval
  • Advanced understanding of:
  • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • BS 8888 drawing standards
  • Manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks / Inventor / Creo or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to enforce technical standards
  • Confident communicator with ability to influence design engineers

Desirable Experience

  • ISO 9001 manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Experience creating or maintaining drawing standards
  • Exposure to tolerance stack-up analysis tools or methodologies
