What You Will Do:

Our client, Yamazaki Mazak is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years.

Jonathan Lee Workforce Solutions are the preferred supplier to Mazak and are seeking a Spindle Tester.

 Job Description

The role is mainly (but not limited to) checking and testing Mazak spindles to new standards and will involve various assembly and test-related tasks related to spindles such as:

  • Electrical assembly work is required to connect each spindle to the test rig in the correct and safe manner.
  • Electrical checks of stators (new and re-used/repaired) to ensure conformance to standard Mazak check sheets.
  • Setting up spindles for testing and operating NC controls.
  • Precision adjustment related to Mazak work instructions.
  • Carrying out various quality checks during the testing process involving precision equipment such as micrometers, testbars, dial test indicators, clampforce and axial force gauges.

Person Specification.

Essential Criteria.

  • Background in precision engineering or electrical assy.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and good communication, attention to detail.
  • Organised, able to plan ahead and good ability to follow written procedures.
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances using hand tools and measuring equipment.

Desirable Criteria.

  • Apprentice trained.
  • Good understanding of mechanical component drawings and assemblies.
  • Previous experience of electrical systems / NC controls.
  • Good understanding of testing electrical motors and fault finding.
  • Previous experience with vernier calipers, depth mics, force gauges and micrometers.
  • Previous experience of Mazak spindles.

Do you have previous powder coating / powder coater experience within the sheet metal industry, and are you looking for a permanent job to start ASAP?!

We are proud to be working with a sheet metal fabrication business in Stevenage who are looking for an experienced Powder Coater to join their team.

The standard working hours are 8am-4.30pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), with overtime opportunities available which are paid at T1/2, the annual salary will be up to £31,500 per annum (hourly rate up to £15.00 per hour) DOE.

The majority of this role will be powder coating, but you must be prepared to help with other duties on the shop floor as or when required.

The hiring manager is ideally looking for someone who has around 2 years experience (if not more) in a similar role.

What You Will Do:

  • Prepare materials for coating, ensuring surfaces are cleaned and masked according to customer specifications.

The Role

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to take ownership of commissioning activities across the full lifecycle of complex with bespoke engineering projects.

This is a key role responsible for developing and delivering commissioning strategies, leading testing activities, and acting as the commissioning authority across multidisciplinary teams. You will play a critical part in ensuring engineered solutions are tested, verified, and delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project and regulatory requirements.

The Role

As Commissioning Engineer, you will:

  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies for bespoke engineering projects.
  • Produce comprehensive test and commissioning documentation, including:
  • Pressure and proof load testing
  • Control panel inspections
  • Setting-to-work documentation
  • Safe systems of work
  • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
  • Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
  • Manage handovers between Manufacturing and Commissioning functions.
  • Lead and execute FAT and SAT activities, ensuring risk assessments, test equipment, and temporary commissioning aids are in place.
  • Identify and report non-conformities, supporting structured resolution processes.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are delivered safely, on time, and in line with project scope.
  • Support tendering activities by estimating commissioning scope, hours, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate and motivate commissioning and test engineers to achieve project objectives.

What We’re Looking For:

You will bring strong technical credibility combined with practical commissioning leadership experience.

Essential:

  • HNC (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline or higher qualification.
  • Extensive hands-on engineering experience.
  • Experience leading or managing commissioning teams.
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Understanding of relevant British and European Standards (e.g. BS7671).
  • Strong problem-solving ability and adaptability in dynamic project environments.
