The Company
Our client, Yamazaki Mazak is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years.
Due to increased workload within the department, our client now has a requirement for a Spindle Build Engineer .
Jonathan Lee Workforce Solutions are the preferred supplier to Mazak.
Job Description
The Role
The role is to repair broken Mazak spindles to new standards and will involve various assembly tasks related to spindle build such as:
- Precision measuring of spindle components.
- Precision assembly and adjustment related to Mazak work instructions.
- Carrying out various quality checks during the assembly process involving precision equipment such as micrometers, test bars, dial test indicators, clamp force and axial force gauges.
- Balancing of spindle cartridges.
- Electrical checks of stators (new and re-used/repaired) to ensure conformance to standard Mazak check sheets.
- Some electrical assembly work is required however the role is mainly mechanically focused.
The Person
Essential Criteria
- Background in precision engineering.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and good communication, attention to detail.
- Organised, able to plan ahead and good ability to follow written procedures.
- Ability to work to tight tolerances using hand tools and measuring equipment
Desirable Criteria
- Apprentice trained.
- Good understanding of mechanical component drawings and assemblies.
- Previous experience in spindle assembly.
- Good understanding of testing electrical motors and fault finding.
- Previous experience with vernier callipers, depth mics, force gauges and micrometers.
- IT skills, and previous experience with Microsoft packages

Overview:
- Are you an experienced Quality Technician, Quality Inspector, or Quality Control professional looking for a hands-on manufacturing quality role?
- We are recruiting for a Quality Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business in Dudley. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with quality inspection, ISO 9001, and manufacturing quality experience who enjoys working closely with production and engineering teams to improve product quality and reduce waste.
The role:
- As a Quality Technician, you will be responsible for first-off, in-process, and final inspection activities, ensuring products meet specification and customer quality requirements. You will also support process control, non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspections
- Perform quality inspections using measurement and inspection equipment
- Verify products against specifications and quality standards
- Monitor defects, scrap, and reject rates
- Raise and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs)
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Assist with ISO 9001 quality system compliance
- Participate in internal quality audits
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities
- Work closely with production, engineering, and technical teams to improve quality performance
What we’re looking for:
We are interested in candidates with experience in quality inspection, quality assurance, or quality control within a manufacturing environment.
You should have:
- Previous experience as a Quality Technician, Quality Inspector, QC Technician, QA Technician, or Inspection Technician
- Experience of manufacturing quality inspection
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems
- Experience using measurement and inspection equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Good problem-solving skills
- The ability to investigate and challenge quality issues professionally
- Good IT skills, including Excel
Desirable experience
- Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Foundry, metal pressing, ceramics, refractory, engineering, heavy manufacturing, or industrial manufacturing
- Internal ISO 9001 auditing
- SAP
- Lean manufacturing or 5S
- Continuous improvement projects

Our client is a well-established engineering solutions company that supplies bespoke equipment and machinery for a variety of industry sectors. As a Controls & Robotics Engineer, your focus will be on designing and programming bespoke automated control systems.
Controls & Robotics Engineer Responsibilities:
- Designing and programming PLC, HMI, network and SCADA systems from initial concept.
- Managing projects from initial concept through to implementation
- Carrying out onsite installation, commissioning, testing and customer training
- Servicing, fault-finding and improving control/robotic systems
- Providing technical support to clients and to the wider engineering teams when required
Controls & Robotics Engineer Requirements:
- Proven industrial controls and robotics engineering experience
- Experienced in PLC programming using Allen-Bradley and Siemens
- Proven experience in managing projects from initial concept through to delivery
- Must be able to travel to assist with commissioning projects when required
- Experienced in electrical design software such as EPLAN would be beneficial

A CNC Machine Shop Lead is required to join an International Defence Systems company that designs, manufactures, and supports world leading Military Systems. The successful CNC Machine Shop Lead will ensure the shift operates at an optimum level of safety, efficiency, and effectiveness to meet customer and company expectations for product quality. This includes adherence o associated procedures, the development of fully capable and reliable processes, and the effective utilisation of equipment and a flexible, skilled workforce.
This CNC Machine Shop Lead opportunity is a full-time permanent position with a very good hourly rate plus a 50% uplift for the shift allowance.
The shift pattern will be a 3 Shift Rotating Pattern of Nights, Lates and Earlies
The CNC Machine Shop Lead will play a pivotal role in developing a team culture that promotes continual improvement across Safety, People, Products, Processes, Procedures, and overall performance and the CNC Machine Shop Lead will report to the Manufacturing Manager
CNC Machine Shop Lead Responsibilities
- Ensure the team adheres to company rules, including safety standards.
- Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor to reinforce safe working practices.
- Brief toolbox talks and safety work instructions as advised by the EHS Lead.
- Conduct workplace risk assessments as necessary to ensure a safe environment.
- Report accidents and near misses in accordance with the accident reporting procedure.
- Lead the shift to achieve production targets and conduct start-of-shift meetings.
- Manage and hold Team Leaders accountable for labour distribution and output.
- Oversee labour allocation and training needs; make recommendations to the Manager.
- Take responsibility for team performance, conduct, and adherence to company rules.
- Ensure all employees receive updates, news, and required training.
- Maintain and regularly update skills matrices to support employee development.
- Manage timesheets, holiday schedules, return-to-work interviews, and related admin.
- Conduct performance reviews and annual grading activities.
- Develop and encourage a positive team culture within the machine shop.
- Oversee daily machine operations, troubleshoot issues, and organise rework.
- Support Team Leaders with machine allocation and job prioritisation.
- Control and report on Kanban levels and hold weekly meetings with the Manager.
- Support and escalate maintenance issues as required.
- Implement direct instructions from the Manufacturing Manager and support change.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) sessions with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality.
- Support continuous improvement activities and maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
The CNC Machine Shop Lead Requirements
- Relevant experience in a CNC machine shop environment.
- Demonstrable ability to set/run the majority of machine tools within defined processes.
- Ability to lead through organising, coaching, developing, and motivating team members.

- Forward-thinking, with a positive, proactive, and approachable leadership style.
- Strong communication skills at all levels of the business and Computer literate.
