High Voltage Battery Engineer
Location: North West

Overview:
We’re looking for a hands-on High Voltage Battery Engineer to work with EV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in real-world, safety-critical environments.
This is a site-based engineering role, focused on diagnosing, repairing, dismantling, and safely handling high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems (400V–1000V+ DC). You’ll act as the HV technical authority on site, ensuring work is carried out safely, compliantly, and to a high technical standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, dismantle, and rework HV lithium-ion battery packs (EV & BESS)
- Perform HV isolation, discharge, testing, and fault-finding
- Identify issues at cell, module, pack, and BMS level
- Support site-based assessment, remediation, commissioning support, and decommissioning activities
- Act as HV technical lead on site, ensuring RAMS and safe systems of work are followed
- Write, review, and implement RAMS for HV battery activities
- Produce technical reports, repair records, and battery condition assessments
- Support continuous improvement of HV battery handling and dismantling processes
Essential Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience with high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems
- Practical experience with EV batteries and/or BESS
- Proven background in HV battery diagnosis, repair, or dismantling
- Experience working under formal HV safety rules and permit-to-work systems
- Strong understanding of:
- Lithium-ion battery architecture (cell/module/pack)
- Battery Management Systems (BMS)
- HV isolation, testing, and fault-finding
- Confident writing and implementing RAMS
- Comfortable working in site-based, safety-critical environments
Desirable:
- Strong BESS exposure
- HV Authorised Person (AP) or equivalent
- Experience in recycling or end-of-life battery processing

Controls Engineer – Gloucester

Our client is a specialist engineering company that delivers a range of automated products, solutions and technical services for the manufacturing sector and they are recruiting for a Controls Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. As a Controls Engineer, your role will focus on the development and support of bespoke automated machinery supplied worldwide.
This role will be predominantly based at their Gloucester office with occasional international travel to their client's sites as required.
Controls Engineer Responsibilities:
- Carry out software and hardware configuration of networked control systems
- Program and integrate vision systems for inspection and measurement using Cognex or similar products
- Provide control system support for prototype, new machine builds, and existing equipment in the field
- Ensure and oversee machine safety to the relevant international standards and practices
- Prepare support documentation to assist with machine manufacture, testing, and customer documentation packages
- Provide customer support and be prepared to travel on-site as required
- Identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements
- Actively participate in product development and improvement
Controls Engineer Requirements:
- Qualified to HNC/HND or equivalent in a Software-related discipline
- Proven experience in PLC, HMI, and motion programming, preferably using Rockwell Logix platform
- Experience with Siemens Control systems and TIA portal is advantageous.
- Knowledge and programming of robotic applications, preferably with Yaskawa, is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to communicate at all levels.
- Helpful and supportive approach to resolving technical challenges.
- Receptive and adaptable to change.
- Able to travel internationally to customer sites (approximately 2-3 weeks in duration, 4-5 times per annum, but may vary depending on projects).
- Current passport and fully COVID-19 vaccinated to allow international travel.

Service and Technical Support Engineer - PA
Our client is a globally positioned designer, manufacturer and supplier of ‘wet lead acid battery’ capital manufacturing equipment which is used by a variety of battery manufactures. In support of existing key account relationships and direct onsite service support in the Pennsylvania – USA area, they are seeking a Service and Technical Support Engineer – ideally near Kutztown.
Reporting directly to the Service Manager and working closely with US and UK based teams, the Service and Technical Support Engineer will be involved in the setting up/commissioning, testing and performance management of the capital equipment on their customers’ site.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Assemble product development equipment and machinery to technical drawings provided.
- Modify parts and assemblies using hand & power tools such as drills, belt sanders & band saws.
- Apply experience and creativity to problem solving during build and test phases of development.
- Setting and testing of the full range of Battery Assembly equipment.
- Final testing and assembly of machinery in preparation of inspection and despatch.
- Installation and commissioning of company’s equipment.
- Training of customer’s staff at various levels at both the company and customer’s premises.
- Report writing and recommendations following all visits.
- Keep up to date expense claims and to uphold company’s expenses policy.
- Liaise with Sales, Production and Design teams in the US and UK.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to other members of the team.
- National and some International Travel including weekend work where required.
- Ensure that all relevant machine documentation is always completed accurately.
- Identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements by highlighting issues.

Key skills, experience and qualifications sought:
- Have completed a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship and Educated to Diploma or Degree Level.
- Dual skilled and a proven track record of machine assembly and fault diagnosis.
- Able to use measuring equipment such as Micrometre & Vernier callipers with attention to detail.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings.
- Able to read and interpret pneumatic drawings and circuits.
- Fault find pneumatic circuits to component level.
- Understanding of electrical control circuits.
- Understanding of PLC Machine controls.
- Able to write concise informative reports and offer solutions to problems.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to communicate at all levels, both orally and written.
- Must hold a Valid Identity Documents and be willing to travel Nationally and sometimes Internationally and be very flexible in terms of working hours and travel.
Note, specific experience of battery manufacturing equipment is not necessarily required. However, exposure from within this manufacturing environment would be ideal.
