Key Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For
- Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance or a related mechanical discipline (Level 2 considered with strong experience)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle systems
- Ability to interpret drawings and follow technical instructions
- Experience in automotive, HGV, PSV, plant, agricultural, or military vehicles
- Electrical or mechanical qualifications (desirable)
- High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship

Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Manager to take ownership of engineering and maintenance operations at a busy manufacturing site in Dudley.
This opportunity would suit either an experienced Maintenance Manager or a Maintenance Supervisor ready to step into a broader leadership role. The position offers a balance of team leadership and practical, on-the-ground engineering involvement.
You will lead a small team of multi-skilled engineers while driving reliability, improving maintenance systems, and ensuring efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of 3 multi-skilled maintenance engineers
- Take ownership of all planned and reactive maintenance activities
- Develop and enhance preventative maintenance (PPM) systems
- Improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime
- Manage contractors, suppliers, and maintenance budgets
- Drive continuous improvement and TPM initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and statutory requirements
- Support site projects including installation, upgrades, and equipment changes
Candidate Profile
- Experience as a Maintenance Manager, Supervisor, or Lead Engineer within manufacturing
- Strong hands-on engineering background (electrical or mechanical)
- Good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
- Experience managing preventative maintenance systems and breakdown response
- Ability to lead a team while remaining operationally involved
- Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable:
- HNC or equivalent in Engineering
- 18th Edition and/or IOSH certification
- Experience within heavy industry, foundry, or similar environments

What You Will Bring:

This days-based role offers a competitive salary, working 37 hours per week, along with a comprehensive benefits package. Hours: 37 hours per week Monday-Friday, worked over 9 days in a 10-day fortnight (one day off every two weeks).
Responsibilities:
- Fit and assemble machine parts accurately to engineering drawings and specifications
- Accurately fit sub-assembly parts using engineering drawings
- Utilise hand tools and power tools to fit and assemble components
- Use engineering measuring equipment to ensure components meet specifications
- Drill and tap components as needed
- Fit and pipe pneumatic and water circuits using copper or plastic pipework
- Strip and prepare machines and tooling for painting and dispatch
- Install machines at customer sites as necessary, including overseas travel
- Adhere to safe systems of work and report any issues immediately
- Maintain and store all tools and equipment safely
- Report any non-conforming parts or design issues using the appropriate forms
- Identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements
Requirements:
- Mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent technical training
- Proven ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with pneumatic drawings is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Basic computer literacy

Machine Technician Responsibilities
- Working to engineering drawings and production documents.
- Use precision measurement equipment to set equipment accurately.
- Set, calibrate and operate precision measurement equipment.
- Calculate lengths and quantities of materials required for production using Excel and mental arithmetic.
- Support other production activities when required.
Machine Technician Requirements
- Previous experience working in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Experienced in operating & setting production machinery
- Apprentice trained and entry level candidates will be considered.
- Experience working with metals would be beneficial.
- Must be able to work to engineering drawings and production documents.
- Must be comfortable in making calculations and using Exsel.
