Test Development Role

Overview:

We are seeking a Test Development Engineer that will be responsible for the planning, execution, analysis, and reporting of test and development activities for water based hydraulic systems and components used in waste processing applications. The role supports the verification and validation of safety-critical equipment and plays a key role in product development, qualification testing, and continuous improvement of hydraulic designs within a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and execute hydraulic test programmes including performance, endurance, pressure, leak, and functional testing.
  • Specify and configure hydraulic test rigs, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Conduct development testing to support design validation, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
  • Analyse test data, identify trends, and provide clear technical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the production of detailed test procedures, test reports, and technical documentation suitable for engineering applications.
  • Work closely with Design, Commissioning and Manufacturing functions to support product development and issue resolution.
  • Provide technical input during design reviews, FMEAs, and qualification activities.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to hydraulic system performance or test failures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test methods, equipment, and processes.
  • Ensure all test activities comply with quality standards, company procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits related to test and development activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and traceability of test equipment calibration and test results.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within both the team and test environment.

Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • Degree in an engineering discipline or an apprenticeship
  • with technical qualification
  • Experience as a Test Development Engineer, with a strong focus on hydraulic systems.
  • Hands-on experience conducting hydraulic testing (pressure, flow, endurance, leak, functional testing).
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic components such as valves, actuators, pumps, accumulators, and control systems.
  • Experience writing test procedures, test plans, and formal test reports.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including the use DoE and other experimental methodologies

Desirable:

  • Appreciation of quality standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ASME, RCC-M, or equivalent).
  • Experience with data acquisition systems, sensors, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with FMEA, verification & validation, and qualification testing.
  • Appreciation of NI Diadem or other analysis tools

What You Will Do:

We are currently recruiting for our client for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to work across there electrical building services, this is an exciting role working on the island of Jersey and will be involved in designing and managing electrical building services engineering projects as designated by the Line Manager.

Under the guidance of a Line Manager, the post holder will deliver day-to-day project activities on time, with a clear understanding of scope, while applying organisational technical duties, processes, and standards.

The role requires specialist expertise in electrical building services engineering and a commitment to professional development and career progression.

The role will also have Financial / Budget Accountability along with staff responsibility across electrical design and project management.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Undertake electrical design duties including calculations, application of guidance and regulations (BS 7671, IET, CIBSE), 2D CAD drafting of layouts and schematics, and preparation of written electrical specifications and tender schedules.
  • Deliver electrical designs covering LV power distribution, small power, lighting, containment systems, data, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and coordination with other building services disciplines.
  • Allocate tasks to trainee and graduate engineers within project scope to ensure delivery on time and within budget.
  • Develop and agree project scope and deliverables with the Line Manager.
  • Produce technically excellent concept, feasibility, and detailed designs and specifications, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Undertake site surveys, work progress monitoring, snagging and dilapidation inspections, and prepare clear, concise technical reports.
  • Deliver projects in accordance with quality assurance procedures, industry standards, and codes of practice, within agreed timescales and fee budgets.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary design teams to produce coordinated concept and detailed designs to a consistently high technical standard.
  • Prepare budget cost projections, tender return summaries, and manpower time/cost expenditure; analyse and comment on contractor tender submissions and variations.
  • Manage, analyse, comment upon, and approve contractor tender returns and variations.
  • Implement organisational health and safety risk assessments and method statements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of engineering best practice and technological developments, undertaking regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

We are currently recruiting for our client for an experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer that will act as the senior technical authority for electrical building services design.

This is an exciting role working on the island of Jersey and will be involved in designing, managing, and supervising electrical building services projects. Responsibilities include providing strategic leadership, design assurance, and expert technical input across complex projects, supporting commercial performance, client relationships, and the development of engineers within the team.

This senior technical position maintains high technical standards, ensures compliance with statutory and industry requirements, and contributes to sustainable growth and reputation. The role is a key step toward Associate Director or Director-level positions, influencing project outcomes and shaping the technical direction of the business.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Act as design authority for electrical engineering across multiple projects and sectors.
  • Lead, undertake, and review complex electrical designs including LV/HV systems, lighting, emergency lighting, power distribution, standby generation, UPS, earthing, lightning protection, and specialist systems.
  • Set and maintain technical standards, specifications, and design procedures aligned with CIBSE, IET, British Standards, and relevant statutory requirements, including local bylaws.
  • Provide technical direction during feasibility, concept, detailed design, and construction stages.
  • Conduct independent technical reviews, surveys/audits, progress monitoring, snagging and dilapidation inspections, and peer reviews of project outputs; prepare concise written reports.
  • Resolve complex technical issues and provide expert advice internally and externally.
  • Lead project delivery teams to ensure electrical design outputs are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Contribute to project planning, resource forecasting, and risk management from an electrical discipline perspective.
  • Identify and manage technical and commercial risks associated with electrical systems.
  • Provide technical input into fee proposals, bids, and scopes of service, including defining deliverables and assumptions. Support change control processes for scope variations.
  • Act as a senior technical interface with clients, architects, contractors, and statutory authorities.
  • Lead or support technical workshops, design reviews, and value engineering exercises.
  • Mentor and coach engineers across all levels; support development toward MIET and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
  • Promote a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. Implement Health and Safety risk assessments and method statements.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and industry best practices through regular Continued Professional Development (CPD).
