 The Role

As Systems Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the engineering delivery of one or more complex programmes, providing technical leadership across the full project lifecycle. Working closely with Programme Managers and technical specialists, you will ensure engineering activities are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

This is a leadership role requiring strong systems engineering expertise alongside the ability to manage teams, resources, technical risks and stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering delivery of complex programmes and multiple projects.
  • Support programme planning and scheduling, identifying opportunities to improve delivery.
  • Manage engineering resources and work with discipline leads to ensure projects are appropriately staffed.
  • Deliver engineering outputs to agreed budgets, schedules and quality standards.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate technical risks throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Manage engineering budgets, forecasts and cost performance.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across systems, software, hardware and integration activities.
  • Represent engineering with customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation and cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Work collaboratively across production, test, quality and project management teams.
  • Ensure compliance with security requirements and engineering governance.

About You

You'll be an experienced Systems Engineering professional with a strong background leading engineering teams within complex engineering environments such as defence, aerospace or other highly regulated industries.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent industry experience.
  • Significant experience across the full Systems Engineering lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering methodologies, standards and best practice.
  • Experience developing high-quality system requirements and delivering compliant solutions.
  • Experience working within capability or product-line development environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO/IEEE/IEC engineering standards and engineering processes.
  • Previous technical leadership and line management of Systems Engineering teams.
  • Experience producing and reviewing technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering tools, techniques and emerging technologies.
  • Hands-on experience delivering hardware, software or embedded system solutions.

Desirable

  • INCOSE CSEP or ESEP accreditation.
  • Experience acting as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Knowledge of NCSC security processes and associated security artefacts.

The Role

As an Account Manager, you'll be responsible for managing an established portfolio of customer accounts across the UK. You'll become the first point of contact for your customers, ensuring they receive a professional, responsive and proactive service at every stage of their journey.

Working closely with External Sales, Production, Logistics, Planning and Finance, you'll ensure orders run smoothly, enquiries are resolved quickly and customers always feel informed and supported.

Alongside providing exceptional account management, you'll identify opportunities to grow existing accounts, introduce new products and strengthen long term customer relationships.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing your own portfolio of existing B2B customer accounts.
  • Building strong relationships through regular telephone and email contact.
  • Preparing customer quotations and following them through to order.
  • Processing customer orders and monitoring progress through to delivery.
  • Keeping customers updated on lead times, stock availability and order status.
  • Working closely with the External Sales team to maximise opportunities within your territory.
  • Identifying opportunities to increase customer spend through cross selling and upselling.
  • Monitoring customer buying trends and proactively re engaging dormant accounts.
  • Supporting customers with product enquiries and after sales support.
  • Liaising with Production, Planning, Logistics and Finance to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Maintaining accurate customer records using CRM and SAP systems.
  • Producing reports and supporting sales meetings when required.

About You

You'll be someone who enjoys building relationships and takes pride in delivering an excellent customer experience.

You'll be organised, proactive and commercially aware, with the confidence to manage multiple customer accounts while finding opportunities to help customers and grow the business.

We're interested in candidates who have experience in roles such as:

You'll also have:

  • Previous experience managing customer accounts.

Job Description

  • Setting & Operating Mazak Horizontal Machining Centres.
  • Producing a wide & varied range of highly toleranced parts which are used in the manufacture of Mazak CNC machines.
  • Understand CNC controls & be able to safely & reliably operate CNC Machining Centres.
  • Work within a team of fellow engineers to strict health & safety guidelines & rules.
  • Play your part in promoting positive culture amongst staff by engaging in H&S improvements & kaizen initiatives.

Essential Criteria

  • Have a solid understanding of operating CNC controlled machines.
  • Can demonstrate & have experience of safely using CNC controls.
  • Have a can-do attitude.
  • Prior experience working within a team in a busy manufacturing environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Understand & improve programs safely.
  • Would have served a mechanical engineering apprenticeship/HNC etc.
