What You Will Do:

- Lead the implementation of an electronic stock and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) control system, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.

- Keep PM schedules and reports up to date, planning effectively to maximise equipment availability and performance.

- Manage parts stock, ordering, and booking out while performing regular stock takes in line with company reporting schedules.

- Oversee the purchasing of parts and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary targets. 

-Facilitate the capture of machinery performance data to enhance process management and decision-making.

- Support contractor management on-site, ensuring all documentation meets legislative requirements.

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will have the opportunity to work on special purpose machinery to build, assemble and test precision equipment and pneumatic systems. A Calibration & Test Lab Manager is required within a Test and Measurement organisation that is involved with the Aerospace, Defence, RF, Satellite, and Broadcast Sectors. The Calibration & Test Lab Manager will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the lab ensuring all calibration activities are performed to the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

The Calibration & Test Lab Manager role will initially combine hands on calibration activities with team management.  It will involve overseeing, scheduling, resource allocation, and technical execution across a range of instruments, whilst maintaining full adherence to relevant quality standards. The Calibration & Test Lab Manager position will drive continuous improvement in processes, turnaround times, and measurement capability, while ensuring all equipment is properly maintained to the required standards.

The Calibration & Test Lab Manager will lead the growth of the lab and will be responsible for the development and mentoring of a small team of technicians and engineers, through fostering a strong culture of quality and safety. The Calibration & Test Lab Manager position is also the key point of contact for audits, customer queries, and technical escalations.

Key Responsibilities for the Calibration & Test Lab Manager

  • Leading the day-to-day operations of the calibration laboratory.
  • Calibrate and verify performance of bench test and measurement equipment.
  • Own the P&L and deliver revenue to target whilst effectively controlling costs.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant calibration standards and traceability requirements.
  • Develop and maintain processes to support ISO/IEC calibration best practice.
  • Liaise with OEMs and service partners for technical updates and calibration support.
  • Train and support less experienced lab staff and technicians.
  • Oversee documentation, asset records, and calibration certificates

Experience & Skills Required for the Calibration & Test Lab Manager

  • Proven experience working in a calibration, measurement, or lab environment.
  • Strong background in RF with a clear understanding and ability to solve problems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of oscilloscopes, RF test equipment, and signal analysis tools.
  • An ability to customize, configure and repair existing calibration equipment.
  • Familiarity with manufacturers, customers, and clients within this sector
  • Ability to combine leadership with self-delivered calibrations and related activities.
  • Experience maintaining compliance with calibration standards and documentation protocols.
  • A person with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive & Self-motivated, self-disciplined, professional with effective communication skills.

We are looking for 4 Machine Setter Operators to join an FMCG manufacturing business in Telford (Shropshire), these positions are all permanent positions from day 1, and the starting salary will range between £35,000 - £36,500 per annum depending on the shift pattern they you join.

The hiring manager is looking for people who live within a 25 mile radius of Telford (Shropshire).

You will be required to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (12-hour days and nights shifts) and the working hours are 6am to 6pm / 6pm to 6am.

The on boarding process would involve you completing an on-line SHL assessment, as well as being invited to the factory for an on site interview and a full factory tour, the company are looking to do an interview day on Friday 1st May 2026.
