Our client, Yamazaki Mazak is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester.
This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years.
Jonathan Lee Workforce Solutions are the preferred supplier to Mazak.
We are looking to appoint a Shipping Operative. The successful candidate will support the preparation, packaging and dispatch of machines, ensuring products are shipped safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands-on role working closely with internal departments and transport providers to ensure efficient shipping operations.
Job Description
- Prepare machines and associated equipment for dispatch in line with company standards.
- Package and secure machines to ensure safe transportation.
- Assist with loading machines onto trailers and transport vehicles.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure machines are ready for shipment.
- Complete shipping documentation and records accurately.
- Support investigations relating to shipping issues and customer feedback where required.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for all shipping activities.
- Carry out pre-dispatch checks to ensure quality and customer requirements are met
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Support continuous improvement activities within the Shipping Department.
- Ensure all shipping activities comply with health, safety and company standards.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, logistics, warehouse or shipping environment.
- Experience preparing, packaging or handling large products or equipment would be advantageous.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to follow processes, procedures and work instructions accurately.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
- Comfortable working as part of a team and supporting colleagues when required.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic computer literacy for completing documentation and records.
- Flexible approach and willingness to learn new processes and systems.
Desirable Criteria
- Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence.
- Overhead Crane experience.
- Experience working with export packaging or shipping documentation.
- Previous experience within a heavy manufacturing environment.

This is a genuinely hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys working at the bench, building, testing, fault-finding, and improving precision assemblies in a fast-paced technical environment.
The Role
As a Assembly & Test Engineer / Technician, you will play a key role in the assembly, inspection, and functional testing of UAV components and sub-assemblies. You’ll work closely with engineers and production staff to ensure products meet exacting quality and performance standards.
The Assembly & Test Engineer / Technician will be responsible for:
- Assemble of components and sub-assemblies using engineering drawings and work instructions
- Carry out functional basic testing and record accurate test data
- Diagnose faults and support root-cause investigations on failed assemblies
- Work collaboratively with engineering teams to support product improvements and development
- Maintain component traceability and production documentation
- Follow quality, safety, and ESD procedures at all times
- Assist with inspection and preparation of components for delivery
The Assembly & Test Engineer / Technician will have:
- Proven hands-on mechanical assembly experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Strong practical assembly, strip down and build, fault-finding and testing skills

- Good communication and documentation skills
Ideally the Assembly & Test Engineer / Technician will possess:
- Experience in manufacturing and production environment with a focus on assembly and build processes
- Mechanical, Electromechanical and/or electronics being adept at stripping down and building complex systems and/or products
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems
- ONC/HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification or apprenticeship would be advantageous
