Mechanical Fitter -  3 Month Fixed Term Contract 

Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join the workshop team at their Telford facility building material handling equipment. This is a hands-on role offering variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to work on hydraulics and machinery from build through to test. Excellent pay and benefits with plenty of overtime to boost earnings, lots of holiday and a good pension and other benefits.

Location: Telford

Hours: Days Monday to Friday

           Friday - Early finish

Pay: £17.80ph 

3 month fixed term contract.

 

As Mechanical Fitter, duties will include:

You will be responsible for the assembly, setting, and testing of machines, working from engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics to deliver a high-quality end product.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical fitting and assembly from drawings.
  • Installation of hydraulic components and pipework.
  • Machine setting, testing, and fault finding.
  • Use of hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment.
  • Working to tight schedules while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Supporting apprentices and sharing best practice.
  • Maintaining accurate timesheets and workshop standards.
  • Representing the company professionally on site and with customers.

 

Relevant skills and experience:

  • Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering and/or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in mechanical fitting within machine building or component assembly industry.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive, safety-focused approach.

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Stores & Dispatch Operative (Stores person) to take ownership of warehouse, stores and dispatch activities. You'll be responsible for ensuring engineering components are received, stored, controlled and dispatched accurately while maintaining stock integrity, product traceability and compliance with company procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect and book in incoming goods.
  • Store, control and issue stock to production.
  • Pick, pack and dispatch customer orders.
  • Prepare shipping documentation and arrange courier collections.
  • Maintain accurate stock records using the ERP system.
  • Carry out stock checks and support inventory audits.
  • Ensure full component traceability and compliance with quality procedures.
  • Manage non-conforming or quarantined stock.
  • Maintain a safe, organised and tidy warehouse environment.

Essential

  • Previous experience within a warehouse, stores or dispatch environment.
  • Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Physically capable of manual handling duties.

Desirable

  • Experience within aerospace, aviation or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using EFACS or a similar ERP/stock control system.
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Knowledge of component traceability and quality-controlled stock systems.
  • Experience preparing shipping and courier documentation.

They are seeking a Toolroom Improver to join their existing team. As a Toolroom Improver, you will be focusing on maintaining the tools to support production areas and NPI projects.  

Toolroom Improver Responsibilities:

-          Support the development of new tools and modify existing tooling

-          Surface grind to tight tolerances

-          Monitor the tool usage and performance across production

-          Fit, trial and modify new tooling for presses

-          Maintain, repair and rebuild tools

-          Use precision measurement tools such as vernier callipers and micrometres

Toolroom Improver Requirements:

-          Previous experience working in a Toolroom

-          Experience in servicing and repairing progression tools

-          Experience in CNC and EDM machining would be advantageous

-          Must be able to work to tight tolerances

-          Must be able to work to engineering drawings
