Packaging Buyer

A leading food manufacturer are seeking a Packaging Buyer, to join their procurement team. Where category optimisation, supplier relationships, and smart decision-making directly improve continuity of supply and product quality. What You Will Do:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with preferred packaging suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, agree terms and conditions, and set up contracts and supply agreements where required.
• Analyse spend, contracts, and market trends to support packaging category decisions across the business.
• Manage lead times and minimum order quantities to help ensure continuity of supply with minimal wastage.
• Source new packaging and suppliers while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, retailer requirements, ethical and environmental standards.
• Partner with NPD and technical teams to support supplier approval and protect product integrity.

What You Will Bring:

• A background working in a similar purchasing role within the category of packaging. 
• Working towards CIPS qualification (or a clear motivation to move in that direction).
• Strong analytical skills, including the confidence to interpret spend and market information and turn it into action.
• Commercial awareness and practical experience with contract management and suppliers.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and present decisions clearly.
