Unlock a career-defining opportunity as a Buyer within a highly engineering-led business that powers gas turbine generator sets and maintenance across Europe and beyond. As a Buyer, you will play a vital role in keeping projects moving, improving supplier performance, and driving cost, quality, and delivery gains. If procurement in an engineering environment excites, this Buyer role is built for impact and progression.
What You Will Do:
- Source and procure goods and services in line with company procurement processes and procedures for the Buyer role
- Locate, develop, and manage a portfolio of suppliers, including obtaining and evaluating quotations based on price, quality, and lead time
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms to minimise risk and reduce total supply costs while improving performance as a Buyer
- Raise and manage purchase orders using the company ERP system, while maintaining accurate supplier records and databases
- Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery and quality, and resolve shortages, quality concerns, or delivery delays
- Work closely with engineering, assembly, planning, quality, and customer support to support production continuity and ensure purchased materials meet specifications
What You Will Bring:
- Experience in purchasing within an engineering environment, with a solid understanding of mechanical components, engineering drawings, and specifications
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills, with the confidence to drive improvement in commercial outcomes
- Practical knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office for effective day-to-day Buyer responsibilities
- Excellent organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- A CIPS qualification at Level 4 or working towards it is desirable, alongside experience of supplier audits and performance management
As a Buyer, this role supports the business's broader ambition: delivering advanced engineering solutions and dependable generator set packages for combined heat and power applications, with a focus on efficiency and reliable supply. Buyer responsibilities also help strengthen procurement compliance, including health, safety, environmental, and ethical standards, while supporting continuous improvement across operations.
