Buyer

We are looking for an experienced Buyer to provide additional support to an established procurement team within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment.

This is a hands on purchasing role where you will work alongside the existing Buyer, helping to manage day to day procurement activity and ensuring materials and components are available to support production.

This is a great opportunity for someone who can hit the ground running, is confident dealing with suppliers and is comfortable working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

The role

You will support the existing Buyer with:

• Placing and managing purchase orders
• Liaising with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries and queries
• Monitoring material availability and supporting production requirements
• Working closely with planning, production and quality teams
• Managing supplier relationships and following up on delivery performance
• Supporting the resolution of supplier quality and delivery issues
• Updating purchasing and supplier information
• Using ERP or MRP systems to monitor orders and stock
• Supporting general procurement and administration activities
• Helping to ensure there is no disruption to production

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who has:

• Previous Buyer or Purchasing experience, ideally within manufacturing or engineering
• Experience dealing directly with suppliers
• Good understanding of purchase orders, procurement and material requirements
• Experience using an ERP or MRP system
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• A proactive, hands on approach and the ability to work at pace
• Availability to start immediately

Experience purchasing engineered, mechanical or electrical components would be beneficial.

Important requirements

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must have lived in the UK continuously for the last 5 years.

This is a temporary role until the end of October, so we are specifically looking for someone available for an immediate start.
