Job details
Are you an engineer who enjoys solving problems but wants to get closer to the customer and the bigger picture? This is an opportunity to step into a field-based applications role where you will combine hands-on automotive systems knowledge with real project delivery.
You will be working directly with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, helping them implement and optimise simulation, communication and validation systems. It is part engineering, part problem-solving, and part project coordination - with real visibility and impact.
The hiring manager is open to engineers with experience in tools such as dSPACE or Vector who want to move into a more customer-facing, project-led role.
What You Will Do:
- Coordinate customer projects, managing timelines, deliverables and communication between internal teams and external stakeholders
- Support the delivery of technical solutions aligned to customer requirements, budgets and programme schedules
- Work directly with customers to support the implementation of automotive communication systems including CAN, LIN, FlexRay and Ethernet
- Get hands-on with HIL and SIL environments, supporting setup, configuration and optimisation of test systems
- Provide technical input during customer discussions, helping troubleshoot and resolve engineering challenges
- Produce clear project reports, highlighting risks, dependencies and progress
- Support the development of internal demo and test systems
- Stay up to date with evolving automotive technologies, architectures and standards
What You Will Bring:
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Automotive or Computer Science Engineering (MSc desirable)
- Understanding of automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, FlexRay and Ethernet
- Exposure to HIL or SIL tools such as dSPACE, Vector CANoe or CANalyzer, ETAS or similar
- Knowledge of embedded systems and ECU testing approaches
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers
- A proactive mindset with the curiosity to learn and develop in a fast-moving technical environment
This role offers something slightly different.
You are not just sat behind a desk or tied to one system. You will be working across multiple customer projects, technologies and challenges - getting exposure to how different OEMs approach development and validation.
It is a chance to move into a more visible, commercially relevant engineering role while still staying close to the technical detail.
Location:
Based in Warwick, with occasional travel to customer sites across the UK and Europe.
