Job details
Are you ready to take your career to the next level? This is an opportunity to join a technically led manufacturing business as a Senior Mechanical Design & Projects Engineer, taking ownership of complex engineered products from concept through to production. You’ll be trusted to lead technically, influence decisions, and drive robust, compliant designs into manufacture.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving real engineering problems, working closely with customers and suppliers, and seeing their designs perform in demanding industrial environments.
What You Will Do:
-
Lead the mechanical and thermal design of complex engineered equipment used in demanding industrial and defence-related applications.
-
Verify and validate designs against relevant European Directives and international standards, including pressure-related codes and regulations.
-
Own the full product development lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to production launch and continuous improvement.
-
Produce detailed 3D and 2D designs using modern CAD tools, supporting both in-house manufacture and external supply partners.
-
Work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to progress projects, resolve technical challenges, and deliver to specification.
-
Investigate new applications, materials, and construction methods to improve performance, cost, and manufacturability.
-
Attend customer and supplier sites as required to support applications, project delivery, and long-term relationships.
What You Will Bring:
-
A strong background in manufacturing engineering, ideally within industrial or regulated product environments.
-
Exposure to defence programmes or highly regulated sectors is desirable, though not essential.
-
Proven experience designing pressure-bearing or safety-critical mechanical equipment to recognised international standards.
-
Solid proficiency in 3D CAD (PTC Creo preferred), with the ability to produce practical, production-ready designs.
-
Confidence working across the full project lifecycle, balancing technical detail with commercial and delivery priorities.
-
Clear, professional communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
-
Eligibility to work in the UK, with the ability to meet security and nationality requirements associated with defence-related work, and a full UK driving licence.
This role plays a key part in supporting the business’s ability to deliver high-performance, reliable engineered solutions into demanding and security-sensitive markets. You’ll be joining a team that values sound engineering judgement, continuous improvement, and practical problem-solving.
Location:
This position is based in Redditch and is office-based, with regular interaction across engineering, manufacturing, and supply partners.
