Job details
Some paint shops run smoothly. This isn't one of them. And that's exactly why they need you.
If you prefer your maintenance roles quiet, predictable and free of challenge... well, this won't be for you.
But if you're the kind of technician who likes being the person people call when things really matter - the one who keeps a complex paint line alive and earning - then keep reading.
What You Will Do:
- Keep a highly automated paint facility running - which means solving real problems, not just ticking boxes.
- Own safety in your area, because one careless moment in a paint shop can ruin more than someone's day.
- Carry out preventative maintenance that actually prevents things, not the kind written by someone who's never seen the plant at 3 a.m.
- Take part in investigations and continuous improvement work the business genuinely pays attention to.
- Help install new kit and technology - and make sure everything gets booked in properly so it doesn't vanish into CMMS limbo.
- And yes, use the CMMS. But also challenge it, improve it and help make it something that supports maintenance rather than slows it down.
What You Will Bring:
- A time-served electrical apprenticeship - the real kind, not the "my mate showed me once" kind.
- Solid preventative maintenance experience and the confidence to diagnose problems quickly and accurately.
- A working understanding of CDM, because "it'll probably be fine" isn't a safety policy.
- The ability to make decisions when other people freeze - and the resilience to keep going when the paint line doesn't play nice.
- Competence with Microsoft Office, but more importantly, an understanding of how a manufacturing business works and why process matters.
This company is known globally for designing and producing exterior components for some of the biggest automotive brands in the world. None of that happens unless the paint shop is running well. Which is where you come in.
Your work won't be invisible - in fact, the entire plant will feel it when you're on shift. For the right person, that's exactly the appeal.
Shift Pattern:
Before you ask - yes, it's a rotating shift. And yes, you'll need to be someone who's comfortable working days and nights.
Here's what it looks like over the four-week cycle (37.5 hours per week):
Week 1 - Mon-Tue 07:00-19:00, Sat-Sun 19:00-07:00
Week 2 - Wed-Thu 07:00-19:00
Week 3 - Mon-Tue 19:00-07:00, Fri-Sun 07:00-19:00
Week 4 - Wed-Thu 19:00-07:00
It's not for everyone. But for the people it is for, the pattern gives you big chunks of time off and plenty of breathing space between runs.
Location:
Banbury - easy enough to get to, and far enough from the M40 that you won't sit in traffic questioning your life choices.
