Technical Services Manager (MRO) - EMEA
Working with the oldest supplier of aircraft tyres in the world, we are seeking a Technical Services Manager to support their continued customer engagement across the EMEA region. Based on their manufacturing site and offices in Birmingham, the Technical Services Manager (MRO) acts in a customer-facing role, providing technical support to airline operators, maintenance organisations and aircraft manufacturers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with some involvement in APAC. This combines both civil and defence aviation applications therefore you must be able to support BPSS type checks.
Ideally with aircraft tyre awareness or a strong relating technical awareness developed within the international MRO aircraft environment with other main products or systems, the Technical Services Manager plays a central role ensuring tyre safety and performance with their 'consumers', managing in-service investigations, and building strong, long-term relationships with customers worldwide.
The successful candidate will investigate and resolve in-service product issues, analyse product performance data, deliver training to operators and MROs, and act as a trusted technical contact for their customers. The role demands a balance of autonomy and teamwork, requiring close coordination with design, production, and maintenance functions across their facilities in the UK, USA and China. Regular travel within the assigned region is expected - circa 6 to 8 weeks per year. This activity may also include attendance to relating trade shows.
To support the role, you should ideally have:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the aviation and/or tyre/product sector
- Proven customer-facing experience with operators, MROs or OEMs
- Strong background in investigations, audits, and structured root cause analysis to support customer / manufacturing engagement and information transfer
- Good understanding of aircraft operations - where possible with tyres in service, their care and maintenance - but other technical products can be considered and training provided
- Ability to work autonomously while coordinating with design, production and maintenance teams across their UK, US and Chinese facilities
- Willingness to travel extensively within EMEA and occasionally APAC
Desirable:
- Awareness of tyre design, manufacture, retread and regulatory approvals (TSO/STC)
- Experience with structured problem-solving methods (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA)
- NDT accreditation/technical awareness
- Degree in Aviation, Engineering or relating field
