Instrumentation Engineer - Aerospace and Defence - Permanent - Long Term - Milton Keynes Area - Attractive

An opportunity has arisen for Instrumentation Engineer to join an Aerospace and Defence Organisation within the Milton Keynes area. The successful Instrumentation Engineer will join the Engineering Team and will support a wide variety of commercial and research projects.

The Instrumentation Engineer role will be to manufacture and install instrumentation associated with testing facilities. This will include but is not limited to; equipment calibration, the set-up of specialised measurement/monitoring equipment, assembly, and integration for test, troubleshooting and assisting in the operation of facilities.

The successful Instrumentation Engineer will be able to demonstrate the drive and commitment necessary for ensuring that work is completed in line with challenging schedule requirements whilst maintaining a clean, safe working environment. To succeed in this Instrumentation Engineer position, you must be flexible in your approach to working hours, which will require shift working, and able to respond quickly to a changing workload.

Working hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, shift work (typical hours are 07.00 - 15:00 and 14.00 - 22:00 on a rotating weekly basis) and salary dependent on experience.

Responsibilities, Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required of the Instrumentation Engineer

  • Manufacture of wiring looms and assemblies with reference to circuit drawings/wiring lists.
  • Hand soldering of fine components at the workbench and strain-gauge installation/wiring.
  • Calibration, maintenance, testing, fault-finding of sensors and systems to component level.
  • Support the design and integration of instrumentation into customer tests and rigs.
  • Work as part of a team and conduct testing to defined quality standards.
  • Provide instrumentation support for projects in all test facilities.
  • Maintenance of the instrumentation hardware and records.
  • Preparation and installation of specialist optical measurement systems in test facilities.
  • Making recommendations for design, process, or hardware modifications.
  • Support continuous improvement within the department.
  • Perform tasks with conformance to Health & Safety Policy and Quality Standards.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Flexible approach to shift working patterns & overtime as required.
  • Undertaking training, where necessary, in support of the above duties.
  • Training will be given in all the specialist activities associated with this position.
  • Experienced time served technician, preferably educated to HNC/HND level.
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering level (or equivalent) with experience of working in R&D.

Do you have previous experience as a Stock Controller, Stores Person or Inventory Controller, and are you looking for a new permanent job in Telford, Shropshire?!

Jonathan Lee are proud to be working with an Automotive business based in Telford who are seeking a Stock Controller on a straight permanent basis, the working hours are 8.00am - 16.30pm Monday to Friday (40 hour week), and the role comes with an attractive salary up to £30K (DOE).

We are looking for someone who has previous experience working with an ERP system, as well as someone who has the hands on logistics experience and a minimum of 2 year's experience working within a Logistics environment.

A Full UK Driving License is essential, and an FLT Counterbalance License (refreshed within the last 3 years) would be preferred.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has previous experience as a Stock Controller, Stores Person, Inventory Controller, Logistics Coordinator, Goods In Controller or Goods In Operative.

What You Will Do:

  • Ensure accurate checking, recording, and processing of all deliveries, including re-palletising of goods and booking stock onto the ERP system.
  • Prepare orders for dispatch, ensuring conformity with the picking list in terms of quantity and specifications.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Conduct regular stock checks to help maintain inventory levels.
  • Perform FLT duties as required, along with prep and paint completed assemblies.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on trucks and vans, arranging repairs when necessary.

  • Previous experience using an ERP system
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel), or willingness to develop these skills.
