A growing food manufacturer are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead and help drive food safety, quality excellence and audit-ready performance in a fast-moving food manufacturing environment. Salary £45,000 to £55,000 plus Benefits 

What You Will Do:

- Lead, mentor and develop the technical team to consistently deliver high standards across the site.

- Provide expert technical support across production, NPD, Travel and Events, ensuring operational needs and compliance requirements are met.

- Prepare for and manage external audits and customer site visits, including BRCGS Food Standard and SALSA, keeping documentation systems and procedures fully current.

- Champion quality and continuous improvement, working closely with NPD and manufacturing teams to strengthen quality systems.

- Log, investigate and resolve customer complaints, ensuring timely follow-up, root-cause analysis and effective corrective actions.

- Oversee HACCP compliance and food safety management, including internal audits and verification activities such as environmental and listeria swabbing, water sampling and shelf-life checks.

 

What You Will Bring:

- Experience in food manufacturing, particularly within high care, high risk or ready-to-eat product environments, with a strong understanding of relevant controls and standards.

- Proven technical or quality management background, ideally with exposure to BRCGS, SALSA and customer audit processes.

- Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety legislation and quality management systems, with the ability to implement and improve them over time.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with production, NPD, Travel and Events teams.

- An analytical and investigative mindset, backed by strong planning and documentation skills, to keep the business audit-ready.

Embedded Electronics Design Engineer – Hardware & Firmware

Overview:

We are currently working with a global technology business to recruit an Embedded Electronics Design Engineer for its R&D team in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in embedded systems, electronics design and firmware development to work on innovative technology used in advanced industrial applications worldwide.

The role combines embedded C, microcontroller development, electronic hardware design, PCB design, analogue and digital electronics, power electronics and product development.

You will work across the full product lifecycle, from initial specification and design through to prototyping, testing, production support and continuous product improvement.

This role would suit an engineer who enjoys working across both hardware and firmware and wants to develop their career within a technically diverse, hands-on R&D environment.

You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed below. The key requirement is a strong foundation in embedded systems, Embedded C and electronics design, together with the enthusiasm to develop across the wider product development lifecycle.

The Role

  • As an Embedded Electronics Design Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the design, development, testing and improvement of advanced embedded electronic products.
  • Embedded Firmware Development
  • Develop embedded firmware using C for microcontroller-based systems.
  • Work with embedded processors including PIC, Arduino and ARM Cortex-M platforms.
  • Develop, test and debug embedded software.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and firmware faults.
  • Develop and maintain communications interfaces including RS232, RS485, SPI, I²C and Ethernet.

Electronics and Hardware Design

  • Design and develop electronic hardware for new and existing products.
  • Produce schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer, Proteus or similar tools.
  • Design and develop analogue and digital electronic circuits.
  • Work with ADC and DAC interfaces.
  • Support power electronics design, including DC-DC converters and constant-current circuits up to 60V.
  • Consider EMC, reliability, manufacturability and production requirements throughout the design process.
  • Maintain PCB BOMs, design revisions and technical documentation.
  • Product Development, Prototyping and Testing
  • Support the full product lifecycle from initial specification through to production and ongoing product support.
  • Build, prototype and test new design concepts.
  • Support product verification, validation and fault-finding activities.
  • Develop and support production and laboratory test equipment and test rigs.
  • Contribute to product improvements, technical investigations and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly activities.

Multidisciplinary Engineering

  • Work closely with electronics, firmware, mechanical, production and service engineering teams.
  • Support component selection and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Contribute to technical investigations and product improvement projects.
  • Support mechanical integration and rapid prototyping activities, including 3D printing and 3D CAD where appropriate.
  • Provide technical support to production and service teams when required.
  • Occasional UK and international travel may be required.

Essential Experience

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related discipline, with typically 2+ years' relevant industry experience.
  • Alternatively, an HNC/HND in Electronics Engineering with relevant commercial experience.
  • Experience developing embedded firmware using C.
  • Experience working with microcontrollers or embedded processors.
  • Practical experience of analogue and digital electronics design.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium, Proteus or similar electronic design software.
  • Understanding of embedded systems and microcontroller-based design.
  • Experience debugging electronic hardware and embedded software.
  • Knowledge of serial communications such as RS232, RS485, SPI, I²C or Ethernet.
  • Understanding of EMC design principles and compliance considerations.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and engineering reports.
  • Practical soldering experience with both through-hole (PTH) and surface-mount (SMD) components.
  • Full UK driving licence and eligibility to work in the UK.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
  • LabVIEW and data acquisition systems.
  • Python, C# or other programming languages.
  • Power electronics, DC-DC converters or constant-current circuits.
  • Electrical wiring, including single-phase and three-phase systems.
  • FMEA, DFM or DFA.
  • 3D CAD, particularly SolidWorks.
  • Mechanical integration and rapid prototyping.
  • Electrical test equipment and product validation.
  • Working within a multidisciplinary R&D or product development environment.
  • Project planning or project management tools.
