Machine Setter / Press Operator

Location: Dudley and Worcester

Pay: £17.12 per hour (approx. £34,719 per annum)

Exciting new opportunities for skilled machine setters with tool setting and press operation experience to join a rapidly expanding business preparing to move to their new premises in Worcester. Initially based at Dudley you will work a rotating day shift setting and running power presses and associated equipment. Excellent rates of pay, great working hours and soon to be based at modern facility.

Shift Pattern: Alternating weeks Monday–Friday – 7:00 am–3:30 pm / 10:30 am–7:00 pm (39 Hours)

Machine Setter / Press Operator Job Summary

Responsible for setting tools, operating press, and maintaining press tools to ensure efficient production of steel components. Duties include preparing coils, conducting quality inspections (including nail bend tests and gauging), changing and servicing tools, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and change press tooling according to production requirements.
  • Inspect first-off samples using gauges and bend tests to ensure quality standards.
  • Operation of HMI 
  • Assist the Supervisor in organizing shift activities and take the lead when required.
  • Perform tool and plate size changes as per order specifications.
  • Communicate tooling and press issues to the Tool Room and Maintenance teams.
  • Segregate and report any defective product or material.
  • Maintain compliance with Health & Safety and quality procedures.
  • Ensure good housekeeping and 5S standards within the work area.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation and handovers.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ tool-setting experience.
  • ROSPA training beneficial
  • Power Press setting or similar
  • Tool changeovers and setting
  • Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential).
  • Reach Truck Licence (beneficial).
  • HMI experience
  • Overhead Crane Licence (beneficial).
  • Supervisory experience and strong communication skills advantageous.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Technical background preferred.

Current or recent experience as production technician, mould technician, power press setter, power press operator, press technician or machine setter

Key Responsibilities:

· Attending breakdowns on a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment in the paper industry.

· Undertake periodic Planned Preventative Maintenance activities.

· To undertake Continuous Improvement activities and projects.

· Identifying faults and carrying out Root Cause Analysis of equipment breakdowns.

· Monitoring the performance of equipment after repairs have been carried out.

· Maintain records of all Maintenance activities carried out and spare parts consumed or required, using EAM Infor CMMS.

Profile:

A Maintenance engineer professional with an electrical bias, ideally experienced in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, as well as: 

· Completed Multi-skilled Apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.

· Mechanical and Electrical maintenance experience.

· Logical thinker with a good approach to problem solving.

· Proactive approach to safety.

· Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high attention to detail.

· Working knowledge of PLC hardware, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.

Advantageous:

· Experience within Tissue/Paper industry.

· NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical maintenance.

· PLC/Robot Cell programming and or Fault finding experience.

· 18th Edition.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday - 06:00 - 14:00 & 14:00 - 22:00

Our client is a global manufacturer of capital machine tool equipment and with continued growth in their UK and European markets, they are seeking a Business Development Executive to support the UK Sales Team activity.

Based at the Group HQ in Worcester and working alongside an existing and established sales organisation, this position requires a combination of technical expertise along with CNC machine tool market insights to create direct sales strategies, develop effective promotion campaigns and identify new opportunities for business growth. If successful, you will play a key role in supporting and guiding the UK sales force. This focused role is designed to develop strategic activity with both new and existing UK customers. It combines technical and market knowledge providing a clear direction.

This role is ideal for a dynamic, self-motivated individual with a strong foundation in engineering and marketing, preferably with the sale of capital equipment.

Reporting to the UK General Sales Managers and UK Sales Director, the responsibilities will be as follows:

Commercial Project Engineer

Our German owned Client operates in the UK and internationally for the supply of automotive and combustion engine products such as gaskets, shielding systems, stamped and formed metal components, we are looking to recruit a new Commercial Project Engineer (Product/ Programme Sales Manager) to support customer engagement and accurate sales coordination and project engagement.

Based in Redcar (near Cleveland) and working on a hybrid basis, this internal and external customer engagement role is to ensure the successful commercial coordination and accuracy of RFQ activity, data entry, forecasting, sales planning and ultimately growth in sales and customer satisfaction.

Specifically, role duties include:

Commercial Tasks:

-    Assist with the controlling of part prices and tooling costs.

-    Support preparation of cost models and quotes for prototypes and mass production - working closely with sister companies.

-    Help maintain customer portals accurately and manage sales-related data.

-    Support the sales planning process in line with business requirements.

-    Support Global Sales team members with contract reviews / negotiations, ensuring data is prepared and presented in professional manner.

Program/Project Management Tasks:

-    Organise initial kick off meetings. 

-    Support project meetings and documentation.

-    Track project time lines and milestones.

-    Preparation of the launch content.

-        Ensures customer release drawings are documented accordingly.

Communication & Coordination:

-    Act as a key point of contact for customers and customer documentation.

-    Coordinate regularly with internal departments (engineering, manufacturing etc..) to ensure project alignment.

-    Regularly engage in on-site customer visits to build relationships and understand technical and commercial needs.

-        Participate in off-site customer visits in line with business needs. 

-    Promote the 'Customer Voice' to ensure customer satisfaction.

Change Management:

-    Support the initiating and tracking of customer change requests.

-    Support customer release and audit activities.

Although supporting existing core OEM and tier 1 customers, this role is targeted to expand to support the business development of new customers in new markets. Working alongside the existing sales team, your strengths in customer relationship and engagement is core.

To support this role, you should have/be:

-    A positive "can do" attitude and the ability to adapt accordingly / flexibly in line with business and customer needs.

-    Experience in a similar customer-facing position from within a technical commercial sales support / engineering / program management / business administration environment (ideally automotive).

-    IT competent. Familiarity with SAP, CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) or equivalent would be extremely beneficial.

-    Strong communication and organisational skills along with excellent communication / presentation skills.

-    Able to work collaboratively and build good working relationships with others, as well as work independently in an effective manner as required.

-    Able to undertake some occasional UK-based travel or other Group locations (e.g. Germany).

NEW MACHINE SETTER OPERATOR VACANCIES IN ELLESMERE PORT, CHESHIRE!!

Do you have previous Machine Setting, Machine Operating and/or Setting Operating experience within a production facility, and are you looking for a new permanent role to start ASAP?

We are proud to be working with a leading manufacturing business in Ellesmere Port to help them recruit up to 7 Machine Setter Operators on a straight permanent basis, the starting salary is just over £34,500 per annum (with a pay review being discussed internally).

This role will be working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (12-hour days and nights shifts) and the working hours are 6am to 6pm / 6pm to 6am (2 days and 2 nights as part of your 4).

These roles would be a great fit for someone who has previously worked as a Production Technician, Manufacturing Technician, Technical Operator, Process Operator, Skilled Machine Operator, Machine Setter or Skilled Machinist within a production/manufacturing facility.

We are looking for someone who hs experience within the FMCG, Packaging, Print or Food industry, previous experience with Core Winders / Conversion Machines / Rewinders would be highly advantage, and they are after someone within a 25 mile radius of Ellesmere Port.

What You Will Do:

  • Operate and adjust machinery to ensure optimal performance and meet production targets efficiently and safely.
  • Communicate effectively with the Production Management Team to address process issues and maintain smooth operations.
  • Conduct line checks to guarantee high-quality product output and compliance with specifications.
