Business Development Manager

Supporting a firmly established SME manufacturing company focused on the supply of metal-based components across a range of sectors, we are seeking a new BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, who is considered a true 'hunter' and experienced in open doors on a solution sales basis.

Ideally based in the West Midlands due to the positioning of the manufacturing organisation - but open to a hybrid working consideration, you should have existing experience of selling manufactured components and has success in new customer delivery.

The Business Development Manager role will be targeted on growth of sales and is supported by a very good basic salary level as well as car and high bonus structure.

 

In addition, the Business Development Manager will:

-    Identify and deliver new business opportunities through existing client and sector knowledge, networking and other channels to achieve agreed targets.

-    Work with existing internal teams to support current and future new business generation demands.

-    Ensure that all new work fits within the strategic goals and capabilities and is at the right complexity and margin levels.

-    Support the successful and accurate negotiation and winning of new sales.

-    Work closely with the engineering and operational teams across the Group to ensure accurate business project development success and delivery.

-    Manage and use internal CRM and sales/estimation systems. 

-    Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.

 

To support this role, you will need:

-    Experience in a relating commercially/manufacturing focused BD role.

-    Ability to think critically and creatively to identify prospective sales opportunities.

-    Sales experience with a drive to target and secure new business.

-    Strong verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of executive summary reports and presentations.

-    Excellent planning and organisational skills.

-    Experience at building relationships, negotiating and influencing.

-    Ability to accurately report on sales pipeline.

-    To be able to travel as required.

Are you a confident, engaging communicator who loves converting leads and creating opportunities? Our client is expanding their sales team and are looking for a driven New Business Sales Executive to join them. This role is ideal for someone who is happy to deal with a high volume of incoming sales enquiries and convert these to sales, it will als involve some proactive sales, therefore you must be someone that isn’t afraid to pick up the phone, can easily building rapport, and want to earn uncapped commission. 

As an Internal Sales Executive, you’ll receive a £25,000 basic salary, uncapped commission, and fully funded industry qualifications to support your development.

This is a full-time, office-based position.

The Role – What You’ll Be Doing

As an Internal Sales Executive, you will:

  • Handle a mix of incoming enquiries and making some proactive outbound calls
  • Convert warm leads and follow up on historic data to generate new opportunities
  • Complete structured fact-finds to understand customer requirements
  • Match customer needs to suitable products and deliver tailored solutions
  • Broker deals, negotiate, and close confidently
  • Ensure all documentation and processes meet internal compliance standards
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience from first contact to sale
  • Work collaboratively with your Team Leader and sales colleagues
  • Once deals are completed, the customer care team manages ongoing client contact, allowing you to focus purely on converting new business.

You will prepare spares quotations, develop fully costed technical proposals, support customer enquiries and help maintain and grow Service Contracts. The role includes both commercial and technical responsibilities, with occasional UK and overseas travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations and support responses to RFQs.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Provide technical support during sales meetings.
  • Maintain technical documentation and product data sheets.
  • Gather and communicate customer feedback to internal teams.
  • Support the Service Manager and deputise in their absence.

What We’re Looking For

  • HNC/HND in an engineering discipline (preferred but not essential)
