Manufacturing Engineer - Defence and Military Systems - Permanent

A Manufacturing Engineer is required to join an International Defence Systems company that designs, manufactures, and supports world leading Military Systems. The successful Manufacturing Engineer will be reporting to the Head of Quality, and the Manufacturing Engineer will improve the end-to-end supply chain quality performance of specific assigned suppliers, internal products, or services.
The Manufacturing Engineer will manage supplier concerns and assist in the leading of APQP activities both internally and external with customers and suppliers. The Manufacturing Engineer will conduct problem resolution and other continuous improvement initiatives and activities. The Manufacturing Engineer will report directly to the Quality Manager.
Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Devise and own specific elements of the quality improvement road map.
- Support the implementation and subsequently maintain systems and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO9001 Quality systems and Quality requirements.
- Lead the implementation of specific, focussed 'Quality Improvement Programmes'
- Use KPI Analysis, FMEA and other relevant tools and techniques.
- Record and generate supplier quality performance figures for the review of Senior Management.
- Supporting the successful implementation of Production Quality Plans for New Product Introduction.
- Reviews and Map processes; support introduction of robust processes by utilising techniques such as PFMEA's and subsequently control the processes using Control Plans, etc.
- Preparation and submission of specific Quality Approval documentation.
- Work closely with Supply Chain Management, Engineering and Programme Management.
- Approving new products and services in line with Company procedures.
- Lead all activities associated with specific non confirming product containment incidents.
- Find root causes to ensure robust and rigorous problem resolution.
- Ensure the supply chain fully confirms and is compliant with the QMS.
- Take part in supplier visits and audits as required.
- Use R & R studies and SPC as the basis for driving on-going process improvements.
- Support design reviews and cost estimation activities, as necessary.
- Where necessary support off site (UK and overseas) visits and manufacturing activities.
- Deliver annual objectives set by functional manager.
- Supervise and co-ordinate subcontract Manufacturing Engineering activities.
- Supervise and co-ordinate Central Inspection priorities and activities.
- Management of gauge calibration.
- Undertake other additional duties that may be required from time to time.
The Manufacturing Engineer should have the following Qualifications Skills or Experience:
- Minimum HNC/Degree in Engineering or Business-related discipline (or equivalent)
- Experience gained in a manufacturing quality or supply chain quality environment.
- Preferable in high volume manufacturing business to set the right standard.
- Experience of Quality Improvement programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience of utilising APQP tools and techniques, PFMEA's, Control Plans and FAI Reports.
- Experience of statistical analysis and tools such as 8D, 5 Why, 6 Sigma, etc
- Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 to comply with company processes.
- A team player with the ability to work on own initiative, and able to influence others.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills and the ability to obtain SC clearance.
- New product development and new product introduction projects experience is desirable.
- Familiarity ITAR and UK export legislation and Experience in the use of industrial MRP or ERP tools.
- Knowledge of TS 16949 and ISO14001 standards optional.
**Security Clearance (SC) will be required due to the nature of the Defence products involved**

NEW MACHINE SETTER OPERATOR VACANCIES IN TELFORD, SHROPSHIRE!!!
Do you have previous Machine Setting, Machine Operating and/or Setting Operating experience within a production facility, and are you looking for a new permanent role to start ASAP?
We are proud to be working with a leading manufacturing business in Telford to help them recruit up to 6 Machine Setter Operators on a straight permanent basis, the starting salary is just under £34,000 per annum (with a pay review being discussed internally).
This role will be working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (12 hour days and nights shifts) and the hiring manager is looking for someone that lives within a 25 mile radius of Telford, Shropshire.
The hiring manager is looking to invite candidates in on site to complete an initial assessment, before having a sit down with the Production Manager and having a full factory tour to see what the job would entail day to day.
These roles would be a great fit for someone who has previously worked as a Production Technician, Manufacturing Technician, Technical Operator, Process Operator, Skilled Machine Operator, Machine Setter or Skilled Machinist within a production/manufacturing facility.
What You Will Do:
- Show proficiency in timely machine setup, minimising downtime, and maximising efficiency through collaborative teamwork
- Operate and closely monitor state-of-the-art machinery to ensure seamless and efficient production runs
- Demonstrate effective problem solving with the ability to identify the root cause using available tools such as the process fault tree
- Carry out routine maintenance and precision cleaning of machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Maintain accurate records of production output and downtime, collaborating with your team to achieve and surpass output targets
- Conduct thorough pre-use checks of machinery, promptly identifying and addressing any potential issues or faults, showcasing your technical ability
- Undertake regular quality assessments of finished products, ensuring they consistently adhere to our high standards

ASSEMBLY FITTER REQUIRED IN TELFORD, SHROPSHIRE!!!
Due to an increase in orders, we are looking for an additional Assembly Fitter to join a well established manufacturing business in Telford, Shropshire.
The working hours are day shifts Monday to Friday (45 hours per week), the starting hourly pay rate is up to £13.00 per hour (annual salary just over £30,000 per annum), with future development and progression opportunities available, as well as overtime also being available and paid at premium rate once you've passed a probation period.
The hiring manager would like someone who has some experience within carpentry or joinery, or someone who has previous woodworking / band saw / nail gun experience and may have operated a CNC Wood Routing machine, or similar.
This role could also be a great fit for someone who has previous experience as a Mechanical Assembler, Mechanical Fitter, Electrical Fitter, Vehicle Fitter or Vehicle Technician who has a passion for working with vehicles.
What You Will Do:
- Assemble components into vehicles with precision and attention to detail.
- Measure, cut, and install parts using hand and power tools such as spanners and drills.
- Work from and interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate assembly.
