What You Will Do:
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels for CNC machine tools following detailed specifications and technical drawings.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of electrical systems within CNC machine tools, ensuring optimal operation.
- Perform rigorous testing of control panels, troubleshoot electrical faults, and resolve wiring issues to guarantee machine performance.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and implement required upgrades to control panels, ensuring their continued efficiency.
- Adhere to the latest safety and electrical standards, including the IEE Wiring Regulations and other relevant UK industry standards.
- Accurately document all electrical installations, changes, and maintenance for future reference, maintaining up-to-date records.
What You Will Bring:
- Apprentice trained or NVQ Level 2 in Electrical Installation, or equivalent, or qualified by experience.
- Experience in panel wiring, particularly within CNC machine tool environments or other precision industrial machinery.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with CNC machinery and its electrical control systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical issues and resolving wiring problems effectively.

The Role:
The purpose of this role is to effectively manage the site operations team to install and commission a diverse range of electrical HV projects for our client. Here’s what you need to be successful in the role:
- 3 years’ experience in a Supervisory capacity in charge of complex electrical installations or have exceptional technical skill, ability and experience beyond that of previous position.
- Successfully completed and implement SMSTS training
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ relevant experience of electrical engineering within the electrical contracting or utility industries
- Able to follow business processes whilst managing multiple time pressured tasks
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience of work within the high voltage sector
- Experience of using Microsoft Office

- Co-ordinate with the Design Engineer and Project Engineer to determine roles and responsibilities within the project team
- Selection of Design Consultants, Equipment Suppliers and Subcontractors, obtain competitive tenders and submit technical information for subcontract tenders
- Review and compile safe systems of work for operational tasks in line with companies Approved Procedures and HV Safety Rules
- Produce Non-Conformance Reports on technical deviations
- Attend site project coordination meetings and undertake inspections / audits of site works to monitor quality, progress, manage commercial aspects of the project in line with statutory requirements
- Provide proactive support and guidance to all parties on compliance with statutory requirements and company standards
- Submit project requirements, technical information, programme and scope of works to companies Commissioning Manager to manage the commissioning process
- Manage and review simulation studies for generation connections undertaken by other consultants or carried out in-house, including load flow, reactive power capability, fault level analysis, power quality, and harmonic studies to demonstrate compliance with Engineering Recommendations, the Distribution Code, the Grid Code, and industry standards
- Option to undertake HV switching operations, work towards authorisation under the Company’s HV rules and develop skills to become an Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP)
- Contribute to the future success of the business and Embrace and demonstrate priorities of Health and Safety.
Here’s what you need to be successful in the role:
- Degree, HND in Electrical Engineering or similar field, or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience of Electrical Engineering within the High Voltage renewables or utilities industries
- Experience with supporting technical electrical engineering projects within the High Voltage renewables or utilities industries
- Proven ability of good communication and influence at all levels
- Capable of working effectively whilst under pressure
- Adept at assessing and identifying compliance shortfalls or engineering opportunities within designs
- Able to plan ahead and prioritise workload
- Proficient in following business processes whilst managing multiple time pressured tasks
- Right to Work within the UK without limitation
- Must be available to travel on work related business throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays

We are currently recruiting for an experienced electrical technician to join our client at their facility in the West Midlands, this is exciting opportunity working for a thought leader in their industry and would be working as part of their highly skilled maintenance team.
As an Electrical Maintenance, you will ensure that all work carried out conforms to the requirements of the company's Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental and Energy policies.
Responsibilities:
- Liase with CI Engineer and Mechanical Engineer to keep up to speed with tasks and duties.
- Pick up outstanding and new maintenance requests for technicians and log the work. Assess priority of requests, authorise for action, or reject as necessary.
- Create permits for the contractors and authorise.
- Record any accident & incident reports as required, in conjunction with CI Engineer and the Mechanical Engineer.
- Carry out all portable appliance tests and in accordance with schedule and compliant with PAT legislation and regulations. ensuring all equipment where possible is within test date.
- Liase with Technician to provide routine inspection of plant in accordance with current legislation.
- Maintain certificates and any other mandatory records for lifting equipment, pressure vessels to include all new equipment, repairs and insurance inspections.
- Organise and follow up repairs to damaged / faulty equipment, to ensure suitable spares available on site.
- Ensure calibration of relevant equipment is kept up to date and maintain records and certificates.
- Ensure Technicans and Supervisors are made aware of any changes affecting plant operation or control
- Attend improvement meetings etc as necessary and when instructed by Senior Site Operations Manager.
- Liase with operations area Technicans and Supervisors prior to commencing work in ‘their’ areas, also ensure that production area Technicans are made aware when work has been completed and plant returned to service.
- Provide support to Site Co-ordinators in event of major incident (fire, serious injury etc).
- Optimise the availability of equipment to ensure minimum loss of production.
- Assist with new projects and plant improvements.
Knowledge and experience:
- Fully trained and qualified electrical Technician
- Three to five years of Electrical experience preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with both managers, plant operators, and other laboratory personnel.
- Adaptable and flexible approach.
- Ability to meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Keen to continue to improve understanding and knowledge of plant operations/Group strategies to contribute towards the organisation.
- Hardworking attitude and reliable.
- work independently.
- Be technically proficient and accurate and a effective communicator.
