We are seeking an organised and assertive Production Supervisor (Sheet Metal).

Job Description

  • Setting weekly plans and targets to ensure the team meet the required daily output.
  • Report daily on any issues with regards to receiving parts internally and the smooth flow of machines through the area.  
  • Monitoring and control of budgets.
  • Responsibility for the control of risk assessments, staff training plans and SDQCP activities.
  • Maintenance and control quality levels promoting high standards throughout the team, ensuring that we continue to complete machines to the highest quality standards.
  • Ensuring the communication between departments and sections results in an effective supply and smooth flow of parts.
  • Ensuring Yamazaki Mazak Health, Safety and Environmental rules and procedures are implemented, and information within the department is always up to date and available to the staff.
  • Promote a positive culture amongst staff by engaging them in health and safety improvements and kaizen initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities.
  • Drive 5S activity within your team.
  • Report and update the sections KPI results.
  • Manage and lead a team of technicians and operators.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Proven leader, with deliverables in all key areas: SQDCP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost & People).
  • Can do attitude.
  • Experience working within a Supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Knowledge of quality control standards and inspection processes.
  • Commitment to maintaining health and safety compliance in the workplace.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions quickly.
  • Strong decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Experience in planning and scheduling production to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage resources efficiently and reduce downtime.
  • Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop a team to achieve production targets.
  • Skilled in handling performance issues and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Strong conflict resolution and communication skills.

We're looking for an experienced Melting Manager/Foundry Manager to take ownership of a critical foundry operation, leading a skilled team, driving operational excellence, and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality molten metal to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What you'll be leading:

  • Full operational responsibility for a complex melting department, including cupola and electric furnace operations
  • Leadership of an experienced melting team, creating a culture built on safety, discipline, ownership, and high standards
  • Daily planning and execution of furnace charging, melt scheduling, and resource deployment aligned to production demand
  • Quality assurance across all melts, ensuring grade compliance, process consistency, and release authorisation against technical parameters
  • Investigation of process deviations, root cause analysis, and implementation of lasting corrective actions
  • Departmental cost control, including labour efficiency, overtime management, yield optimisation, and waste reduction

What we're looking for:

You'll likely come from a foundry, castings, metals, steel, iron, or heavy process manufacturing environment and bring:

  • Proven leadership experience within melting, metallurgical, or foundry operations
  • Strong knowledge of cupola and/or electric furnace processes
  • A deep understanding of melt chemistry, process control, and metallurgical quality standards
  • Experience using process data, thermal analysis, and operational metrics to drive decisions
  • A track record of improving productivity, reducing waste, and delivering measurable cost savings
  • Natural leadership capability, able to coach teams, challenge standards, and build accountability
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance within heavy industry

Mechanical Fitter - Contract roles -  3 Months Fixed Term

Mechanical Fitters required to join a busy workshop team at an established machine builder in Telford. This is a hands-on role offering variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to work on hydraulics and machinery from build through to test. As Mechanical Fitter, duties will include:

You will be responsible for the assembly, setting, and testing of machines, working from engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics to deliver a high-quality end product.

 

•     Mechanical fitting and assembly from drawings

•     Installation of hydraulic components and pipework

•     Machine setting, testing, and fault finding

•     Use of hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment

•     Working to tight schedules while maintaining quality and safety standards

•     Supporting apprentices and sharing best practice

Relevant skills and experience:

What You Will Do:

As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer;

  • To assist in the design of a range of engine ancillaries including oil, water & fuel pumps
  • Concept and detailed design of e-Pumps for Data centre applications.
  • Ability to work from 1 st principals in concept design work utilising problem solving skills
  • Work alongside engineering team to ensure design is optimised for manufacture
  • To liaise with design team & Chief Engineer to resolve design issues.
  • Create CAD models & layout of engineering drawings
  • To create engineering reports
  • Liaison with customers, internal departments and external suppliers.
  • Excellent knowledge in GD&T's
  • Experience in DFMEA and DFM

What You Will Need:

As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer;

  • Degree qualified Engineer with a minimum of 5years industry experience
  • Proven ability in one of the leading 3D CAD modelling packages, ideally Creo
  • Experience of designing with both metals and plastic materials

We’re looking for a hands-on Electronics Technician / Prototype Engineer to take circuit designs and turn them into fully working physical devices. This is a practical, build-focused role where you’ll be assembling, modifying, and refining prototypes used in real-world applications.

If you enjoy PCB soldering, wiring, debugging, and physically building hardware, this role will suit you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You’ll be working closely with engineers and developers to bring new products to life:
  • Build and assemble electronic prototypes from schematics and BOMs
  • Carry out PCB assembly, soldering, and rework (SMT/SMD and through-hole)
  • Perform fine-pitch soldering and board modifications
  • Design and build internal wiring and cable harnesses
  • Integrate electronics into mechanical enclosures (metal, plastic, 3D printed parts)
  • Troubleshoot faults and improve prototype builds
  • Support R&D and product development through hands-on iteration

Skills & Experience

  • We’re looking for practical, hands-on experience in:

The Role:

  • Carry out mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery
  • Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical systems, with some electrical and control system involvement
  • Dismantle, repair, replace, and test machine components to ensure optimal performance
  • Perform fabrication and machining tasks, supporting maintenance and improvement work
  • Carry out welding (MIG & TIG), fabrication, and manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills, along with sheet metal work to support equipment repair and improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records using CMMS systems
  • Identify and source parts, tools, and consumables
  • Support continuous improvement (CI) projects to enhance performance and reduce downtime
  • Mentor junior technicians and support team development
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety and 5S standards

 

 

About You:

With previously experience of working within heavy industry, you'll be a mechanically biased engineer with:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a mechanical maintenance role
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
  • Good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
  • Proven ability to carry out welding (MIG & TIG)
  • Experience in fabrication and component repair
  • Skilled in manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experience using tools, workshop machinery, and maintenance equipment
