Laser Operator

During the first 12 weeks whilst training you will work a fixed day shift (7.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, 12.30pm finish Friday - 39 hours per week), but you will then be required to work a rotating 6-2/2-10 shift pattern Monday to Friday (38 hours per week).

The starting salary on days would range between £26,770 - £29,811 per annum (DOE), but once you move onto the rotating shift system your salary will range between £32,700 - £36,300 per annum (DOE).

Overtime is regularly available and is paid at T1/3 after 39 hours, and T1/2 after 48 hours, this business also offers a £2,000 new starter incentive bonus which is a staggered payment (£200 after the first month, £800 once you've passed probation and the final £1,000 to be paid after 12 months service).

 

What You Will Do:

  • Operate Trumpf CNC laser machines with precision and efficiency.
  • Interpret technical drawings and CAD layouts to ensure accurate production.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in laser cutting processes and steel material handling.
  • Perform basic mechanical maintenance on equipment to ensure smooth operation.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and exceed expectations.
  • Utilise Trumpf software, such as TruTops or Boost, to optimise laser cutting processes.

 

What You Will Bring:

  • Proven experience operating Trumpf CNC laser machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with confidence.
  • Familiarity with Trumpf software is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and a practical, hands-on approach.

  • Drive continuous improvement, including yield, scrap reduction, and reduction of non-value-added work in the manufacturing process.
  • Produce timely reporting for management, including defects per month, Pareto analysis of key issues, and improvement timing plans.

What You Will Bring:

  • Confidence in using Excel and Word for reporting, tracking actions, and maintaining clear records.
  • Experience or strong familiarity with quality planning and audit-based ways of working (DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans and process/quality auditing would be a strong advantage).

We are looking for someone who has strong knowledge of regulatory compliance for packaging materials (e.g., food contact, BRC, etc.) and experience performing regulatory assessments.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead technical evaluation and quality assurance for packaging materials and production processes.
  • Design and run R&D trials, then document results and recommendations to drive improvements in functionality and manufacturability.
  • Carry out physical, chemical, and sensory/odour testing, keeping accurate records and producing clear technical/quality reports.
  • Support customer quality certificates and investigate complaints using a root cause approach, ensuring timely corrective actions.

What You Will Bring:

  • Proven laboratory and analytical experience, ideally within packaging materials testing.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance for packaging materials (for example, food contact and BRC) and experience with regulatory testing or assessments.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical biased Test Engineer to join our engineering team, responsible for the inspection, testing and verification of bespoke electrical systems and equipment throughout the manufacturing process.

This role operates within highly regulated industries, including the nuclear sector, where strict adherence to quality, safety and compliance standards is essential. You will be responsible for ensuring electrical systems, control panels and associated equipment are fully tested, verified and documented prior to delivery.

This position will require eligibility for Security Clearance (SC) due to the nature of the projects and customer sites involved.

Working closely with Design, Manufacturing and Quality teams, you will help ensure all products meet customer specifications, relevant legislation and industry standards.

The Role

As an Electrical Test Engineer, you will:

  • Carry out electrical inspection, testing and fault finding on low-voltage electrical systems, control panels and associated equipment.
  • Perform electrical verification, including continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, and functional testing using calibrated test equipment.
  • Carry out and support hydraulic testing activities, including pressure testing of associated systems where required (following appropriate procedures and safety controls).
  • Produce and maintain electrical and test documentation, including:
  • Electrical inspection and test records
  • Functional test procedures
  • Hydraulic and pressure test records
  • Test reports and certification
  • Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
  • Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Verify electrical and mechanical assemblies against engineering drawings, schematics and specifications.
  • Identify electrical and hydraulic faults, defects and non-conformities, supporting root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all testing activities comply with BS7671, relevant nuclear sector quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues and improve product quality.
  • Support final product verification prior to customer inspection and release.
  • Maintain calibration records and ensure all test equipment is fit for purpose.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely under controlled procedures suitable for regulated and nuclear environments.

What We're Looking For:

Essential

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing (or equivalent) desirable.
  • Experience testing industrial electrical systems, control panels or bespoke engineered equipment.
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments (nuclear sector experience preferred).
  • Eligibility for Security Clearance (SC) is essential.
  • Understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems used in industrial equipment.
  • Experience supporting or conducting hydraulic pressure testing or similar mechanical integrity testing.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment and pressure testing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures, including safe isolation and controlled test environments.

Desirable

  • Experience in the nuclear, defence, rail, or oil & gas sectors.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 / nuclear quality assurance standards.
  • Understanding of control systems and PLC-based equipment.
  • Experience with structured test documentation in regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement / lean manufacturing principles.

European Business Development Manager - Aerospace

Our client is a global supplier of investment castings/castings, precision machining and added value process capabilities (AS9100/NADCAP etc..) and have manufacturing plants in Asia, Europe and North America. In support of their continued development of existing and future aerospace, energy and medical customers, working from a remote home basis in the UK, this position of European Business Development Manager is focused on customer and market engagement along with business growth, primarily targeting the OE, Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels.

The European Business Development Manager's responsibilities include:

  • Supporting our client's further development of core relationships within the UK and European aerospace, energy (IGT) and medical sectors; with an emphasis on developing suitable aerospace clients in particular.
