Group Quality and HSE Manager

Working within a specialist EDM, machining and grinding operation in the West Midlands, our firmly established client is seeking an experienced Group Quality and HSE Manager to support their ongoing manufacturing growth activity within the global aerospace and industrial sectors.

Based primarily at their site near Wolverhampton, but having close working activity with the Group sister site near Halesowen, this role will report to the Group Operations Director and key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage all QHSE compliance requirements and market relevant risks/opportunities
  • Track external developments specific to the UK and US/global aerospace sectors which may affect the business operation
  • Support manufacturing, product development, supply chain, logistics and sales/marketing activities
  • Manage the QMS
  • Complete problem analysis, process analysis, the identification of process improvements and the implementation of preventive actions alongside the existing quality inspection teams
  • Actively manage and develop QHSE focussed groups within the company as required
  • Manage/develop a structured performance assessment process for systems, process and products
  • Identify opportunities for improvements relating to QHSE
  • Assist in the evaluation of non-conformances relating to product, process and business systems with recommendations for solution
  • Preparation and write QHSE reports
  • Liaise with external parties, i.e. customers, accreditation bodies, suppliers on matters relating to QHSE
  • Hold responsibility for all audit and certification activity
  • Support the evaluation and audit of sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Maintain and further expand/establish proactive and preventative health, safety and environmental (QHSE) policies while ensuring compliance with current legislation.

The essence of the role is to maintain and further expand/establish proactive and preventative quality, health, safety and environmental (QHSE) policies while ensuring compliance with current legislation. Some UK and international (US) travel will be required

On a permanent basis, you will need to have:

  • Min HND or equivalent in a technical discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in QHSE
  • Knowledge of ISO and AS9100 requirements
  • Worked within a production engineering environment - preferably aerospace/defence
  • Completed risk assessments and COSHH assessments
  • Completed accident/incident investigation
  • Implemented pro-active problem-solving techniques: 8D methodology, FMEA, 5s and lean manufacturing

Working within a specialist EDM, machining and grinding operation in the West Midlands, our firmly established client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to support their ongoing manufacturing growth activity within the global aerospace and industrial sectors.

Based primarily at their site near Wolverhampton, but having close working activity with the Group sister site near Halesowen, this role will report to the Group Operations Director and key responsibilities will include:

  • Direct engineering responsibility within an established manufacturing environment
  • Work closely with Operations to support all elements of manufacturing including machining, machining techniques, best practice, continuous improvement, schedule adherence, cost and efficiency control
  • Support NPI and product development opportunities

Managing a team of circa 30 people, the role is a hands-on position and involves working to high tolerances and with specialist carbon-based materials as well as metallics. Combining grinding, 3 / 4 / 5 axis machining, the Engineering Manager should have considerable experience of working in an engineering and manufacturing environment with a strength in CNC manufacturing across similar operations.

This role would ideally suit candidates who have seen career success from a machinist level through to a supervisory/management position.

Senior Fire Engineer (Hybrid)

With a particular focus on fire protection materials used within the construction and protection sector, our client is an established global manufacturer of fire protection products supplying in to markets throughout the world. To support their Fire Protection Team, they are seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to particularly support the UK with some international engagement.

Based from a hybrid position but working closely with the manufacturing operation in Manchester, candidates should have an existing expertise as a Fire Engineer / Fire Safety Advisor / Passive Fire Protection Inspector and be versed in the current technical standards and requirements. You will ideally have a good working knowledge of Approved Document B.

You will be tasked with specifying and providing technical guidance relating to passive fire protection products and work to support successful market involvement. This is not a sales position but is to support the further market development, technical support and engagement.

DUTIES OF ROLE

-    Work closely with the commercial team to answer technical questions

-    Provide specification advice to enable correct use of their products

-    Attend meeting (F2F / teams) with project stakeholders including Architects, Main Contractors, Fire Engineer, Subcontractors and Building Control

-    Manage a team of 2 site support specialists (Technical Advisors)

-    Visit site to provide installation advice and inspections

-    Provide toolbox talks to demonstrate installation methods around passive fire protection on live projects, in particular within external wall cladding systems.

-    Inspect sites to ensure compliance with specifications and installation requirements including taking measurements, photographs and data capture, followed by site reports. 

-    Support cross functional teams on new product introduction and product development

With an existing and proven working awareness of the aerospace and defence sectors, this role will support a highly motivated professional who brings experience and leadership to the role as well as a strategic and positive approach.

This role requires a transparent and direct level of sales management and business development engagement to expand sales from current clients, as well as target new long-term relationships. Specifically, and in line with the recent UK defence spend increase announcement combined with existing and future aircraft programme visibility, this role is to strategically grow sales. Customer Satisfaction and Service Manager (Midlands Based)

Reporting to the UK Managing Director and based in the Midlands, through management of the existing Customer and Service Team, the Customer Satisfaction and Service Manager forms a critical and strategic aspect enhancing our clients Customer Service offering in support of their capital equipment manufacture and supply.

The role will require a high level of commercial and technical involvement in continuing to manage and develop a successful aftermarket service. Supplying a first-class service as well as growing revenue streams, this is critical position requires the ability to manage and develop a broad range of customer facing services, grow new business opportunities, provide excellent leadership and communication skills, as well as apply a strong technical knowledge.

The outline responsibilities of the role are as follows:

-    The management and further development of a successful UK Service and Spare parts environment as well as leading a team of office and field-based personnel. 

-    Supporting the sales activity and growth in revenue.

-    Promoting 'service as a business' culture.

-    Work with other departments across the company to develop new products & services which enhance and support their customer satisfaction goals.

-    Develop a stronger culture within the service organisation that is focused on delivering customer satisfaction.

-    Develop and implement clear and effective processes to ensure that best in class customer support is delivered.

-    Report internally as required.

The role will also be directly responsible for the management of Field Service including Installation, Servicing and Breakdown teams and relating co-ordination / Spare parts / Customer Satisfaction / Technical Support.

Ideally degree qualified and with at least 5 years' experience at a similar level in a leading customer service function within technical products and/or services ideally related to capital equipment, you should have excellent leadership and management skills to drive change whilst ensuring that targets and deadlines are met. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and influence decision-making are core to this position.

You should ideally have exposure to capital equipment manufacturing and supply along with relating aftermarket management and engagement.

This position offers a senior level salary, package, benefits and strong performance related bonus structure.
