We are currently working with a world class specialist vehicle manufacturer who are developing a full range of EV Vehicles in the recruitment of a Principal Engineer – Closures & Mechanisms. The main responsibilities of this role will be to support the integration, design and development of components and systems for next generation vehicles. You will create and manipulate geometry for primary communication of concepts / schemes.

As Principal Engineer Closures you will be required to:

  • Support the Chief Engineer, BIW & Exterior in all day-to-day activities
  • Engineering hard-point generation
  • Benchmarking of competitor vehicles & reporting of findings
  • Leading the development of the 3D and 2D models for closure & mechanism engineering
  • Design surface (CAS) feasibility ‘FC' checks. Provide feasibility advice & guidance
  • Participate in cross functional integration reviews for components & systems

As Principal Engineer Closures you will have:

  • A relevant engineering qualification or experience in a similar role
  • Proven experience in an automotive or motorsport applications as part of an OEM, Tier 1 or consultancy being able to use CAD (Catia)
  • Experience in complete vehicle development cycle experience for closure & mechanism activities

As Powertrain Resident Engineer, you will oversee the daily operations of Test Cells, ensuring efficient and effective management of the testing processes.

What You Will Do as Powertrain Resident Engineer:

  • Communicating with customers to ensure the accuracy of the test plan
  • Writing detailed test specifications
  • Developing test scripts, either from scratch or by modifying existing components
  • Supporting the installation of test objects into test rigs
  • Commissioning test objects within the Test Cells
  • Maintaining engines and Test Cells
  • Programming and monitoring drive cycles
  • Managing hydrogen programs for internal combustion engines (ICE) and fuel cells (FC)
  • Interpreting project targets and writing corresponding test specifications

What You Will Bring as Powertrain Resident Engineer:

  • A relevant degree with proven industry experience
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engine operating principles, ideally with hands-on experience in engine strip down, repair, and assembly
  • Understanding of fuel injection, ignition, and emission component operation
  • Knowledge of powertrain systems (e.g., fuel, ignition, and emissions)
  • Experience in test bed operation and test bed control systems
  • Proficiency in using engineering software such as Inca, UniPlot, and MatLab
  • Capability to operate and modify complex Excel files for data analysis tasks

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Principal Engineer - Perceived Quality Engineer who has the ability to provide feasibility inputs to Engineering and Design as part of the conceptual and early Engineering phases of new vehicle programmes.        

Working as part of the Advanced Manufacturing Team, the Principal Engineer - Perceived Quality Engineer will support the development and integration of vehicles concepts covering manufacturing feasibility, dimensional management and perceived quality within interior trim & cockpit, exterior trim and uperbody and closures during the early stages of design.  This will involve communication with cross functional teams both in the UK and Asia, (internal and external) while embracing the strategic requirements and objectives to identify areas for improvement across all facets of the business.   

As a Principal Engineer - Perceived Quality Engineer, you will be charged with;

  • Supporting projects in the design stages of the program, providing PQ direction for both Exterior and Interior Trim development
  • Additional support to be provided on request for part / assembly maturation process and root cause analysis support for production / design related concerns
  • Reviewing and validation of system integration for Exterior and Interior themes, leading the Development of PQ methods and processes
  • Providing a good working knowledge of PQ benchmarking, current trends and execution on competitor vehicles
  • CAD operation skills required – to create and manipulate geometry in Catia V5, for the communication and development of component interfaces to support Gap & Rad Plans  
  • Generation and development of the PQ activities for Exterior & Interior Trim
  • Generation and maintenance of the Gap & Rad Plans, applying designs and engineering executions which achieve PQ targets
  • Lead digital reviews and sign-off events for PQ related activities for Interior systems.
  • Development of Product Attribute Targets (PAT) based upon the Product Attribute PALS positioning for PQ
  • Identify PQ opportunities for process development and longer-term strategy
  • Provide PQ Benchmarking of competitor vehicles & reporting of findings in support of Design conceptual theme development
  • Manage Optical Quality & Perceived Quality development & assessment activities

As a Principal Engineer - Perceived Quality Engineer you will have;

  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge in Perceived Quality delivery for Exterior and/or Interior systems
  • Complete vehicle development experience for PQ activities, being able to lead PQ activities
  • Design Studio Feasibility Support / Optical Quality reviews with knowledge of dimensional control and manufacturing process engineering 
  • Experience of Exterior Trim materials, processes, tooling and assembly
  • Gap & Rad Plan Development, section drawings and target generation using Catia V5
  • Ability to create BIW and Trim interfaces appropriate to given CAS data
  • Exposure of vehicle launch programmes being able to manage deliverables within stringent gateways

We are looking for Mechanical Design Engineer to work on the detailing of components and assemblies for Gas Turbine Engines.

You will have the opportunity to work on innovative projects, working alongside an experienced engineering team who are working on the design and development of light helicopters for the global market. The company design, develop and manufacture their products in the UK.

The role of Mechanical Design Engineer will be to use PTC Creo to produce & detail component and assembly models and the associated drawings.  A hands-on approach and can-do attitude are essential, as is the ability to challenge mainstream thinking in a constructive and energetic way. This is a permanent position with hybrid working available.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and detailing components/assemblies utilizing PTC Creo for all solid modelling
  • Development & preparation of drawings to relevant ASME and BS standards for internal and external usage for prototype or production usage
  • Usage of Windchill PDM for BOM structure development and drawing release, and support peer review of drawings for release.
  • Support to prototype and pre-production builds through virtual design reviews, system arrangement drawings and sub system BOMs
  • Interact with cross functional teams, and suppliers to meet the specifications and needs of the customer in the development of new and current products
  • Support problem solving, prototyping, intellectual property, timeline management, and product testing and validation
  • Thoroughly documents product designs, project activities, communications, verification results and recommendations as required
  • Support development of internal best practice processes

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent with relevant experience in an engineering design role
  • Proven design & detailing experience of mechanical parts, assemblies and systems
  • Proficient with PTC CREO for detailed CAD work
  • A working knowledge of Windchill would be beneficial, along with Microsoft Office software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization
  • Possess well-developed product knowledge, problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in “Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance” (GD&T) and able to perform tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Used to working within an engineering Phase gateway process for development and validation.
  • A working knowledge of simulation software would be beneficial

Are you a Senior Manufacturing Engineer interested in working with an SME who are a niche manufacturer of of crewed and uncrewed aircraft's seeking to build their Manufacturing Team in developing new products and systems to support ongoing demands within the defence industry based out of their Salisbury operation.

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will support new R&D projects dealing with innovative materials, processes, manufacturing systems and equipment and as such a background within NPI, NPD, Industrialisation and/or product launch would be a distinct advantage. 

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for: 

  • Implementation of selection and control of manufacturing processes during R&D phase of new product introduction, implementing manufacturing plans and creating SOP's. 
  • Developing and managing BOM's in line with the latest release of eBoM to ensure all parts of an aircraft or key assembly are identified and managed through the product life-cycle.
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings to create/amend work instructions and be able to identify the processes, tooling and equipment to maintain delivery and quality standards.
  • Leading the process of New Product Introduction to support the introduction of new products or modification programmes into production.
  • Production Non-Conformance (NC) in a product or process and be able to identify and gather the appropriate engineering data and deliver the containment, root cause analysis and corrective actions in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Driving forward Change Management process and subsequently plan, develop and execute the introduction of engineering change, while leading continuous improvement activities. 
  • Early identification for new equipment and submitting CAPEX requests.
  • Responsibility for creating production plans and shop layouts for new projects / new requirements.
  • Managing all technical issues and concerns related to the manufacturing operations covering production processes, equipment and materials. 

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer should posses the following:

  • Strong experience Manufacturing Engineering or Lead Technician experience, ideally from an aerospace or high-performance engineering background 
  • Exposure in NPI, NPD, Product Launch and/or Industrialisation to support new products and systems being developed by the business 
  • Creation and Management of Bill of Materials (eBoM to mBoM)
  • Creation of work instructions from Engineering data.
  • Competent use in CAD and PLM platforms
  • New product introduction (NPI) with APQP & PFMEA
  • Continuous Improvement Champion with exposure to Six Sigma, 8D, etc. 

To support this role, you MUST be able to support security clearances (SC) and be able to commit to national and international travel as required. This role is seeking excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
