Contract Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor

Desford, Leicestershire

Manufacturing  

This role will suit a hands on Manufacturing Engineering professional, comfortable working in a fast paced manufacturing environment where you are required to co-ordinate people and workload capacity.

 

As Supervisor you will be expected to have a strong knowledge of six sigma quality standards and will be expected to demonstrate;

Leadership a team on the Line (Engineers, Technicians, Degree Apprentices) to meet manufacturing standards

The offering of ideas and then driving through process improvements

Effective implementation of innovative manufacturing solutions that align with the core manufacturing strategy for a world renowned construction equipment manufacturer

A strong understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite  

 

Key duties for this site based Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor position will likely include;

To train and develop teams capable of completing business objectives and perform and support the plant operating functions

The attendance at various shop floor performance reviews, to build loss/defect intelligence and set priorities for team. Understanding operational pain points and plan resolves

To provide specialised engineering technical support to various areas of the organisation

Delivering continuous improvement for People, Quality, Velocity and Cost metrics

Adapting team deliverables based on current business landscape

To co-ordinate Torque tool implementation, tool design, assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, etc

Delivering capital projects for process enhancement and to improve customer satisfaction, conducting research and ensuring proper approvals

The co-ordination of the installation of new machines and equipment and process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture or assembly of quality parts

 

Likely qualifications or skills for this role may include;

Manufacturing Engineering / Engineering Management Degree or equivalent experience

Strong leadership and communication skills

Proficiency in Lean leadership and 6 Sigma methodologies

Prince2 certified

 

This is an initial 6 month contract role based on site in Desford, to learn more pleases contract Grant Nisbet on 01384 446115 quoting reference 68420.

Core hours are 7am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7am to 10.30am on Friday.

Do you have a degree qualification in Biological Sciences (or equivalent) and Technical Officer experience in a laboratory environment?  

As a Technical Officer, you will join a team of specialists and support staff involved in the identification, testing, characterisation and preservation of microorganisms.

To give you an idea of how this Technical Officer role would look and feel, here are some things you could expect to do:

  • Collation and submission of monthly progress reports
  • Generation of co-authored media content relating to the Centre assets at the partner site
  • Isolation and purification of micro-organisms, predominantly fungi, bacteria and yeasts and their despatch or deposit in liquid nitrogen
  • Support to the plant clinic/horizon scanning team's knowledge products
  • Support plant clinic image analysis
  • Liaise with partners on molecular diagnostics projects

  • Experience with practical research projects
  • Knowledge of microbiology procedures including aseptic techniques, sub-culturing and the use of microscopes
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working within an ISO/IEC 17025:2017(E) accredited laboratory (desirable)
