We are currently recruiting for a Battery Process Engineering Manager to work for our client at their facility in the West Midlands, the role will be involved in reporting to the Site Operations Manager and will lead and oversee the Management of HV electric vehicle engineering processes for our client who are a battery recycling business.

The duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Create and Manage Disassembly Processes and Technical data on battery packs.
  • Ensure logging of disassembly activities is completed in a timely manner.
  • Manage day to day workshop tasks on disassembly and repair and manage export container loading and paperwork.
  • Conduct assessments on scrapped and or damaged Lithium-Ion EV batteries for safe disassembly.
  • Conduct assessments on batteries that have not been seen before in the Workshop.
  • Where required perform disassembly of scrap Li-Ion EV batteries
  • Make sure the EV Team enter all battery data into Management system and spreadsheets as required.
  • Perform disassembly on critical battery packs that could be dangerous using correct PPE
  • Make sure all EV High Voltage equipment is calibrated and up to date
  • Use company IT Systems (IN VU) to confirm new lithium-Ion collections are safe to enter the yard and be stored on the premises.
  • Carry out assessment of battery Modules using the NHR equipment.
  • Conduct stock control along with packing and moving of output products (modules/Other components) Including the production of a end of month stock report.
  • Act as a safety operative for High voltage and live working jobs.
  • Prepare documents for weekly Management meeting to include stock levels and disassembly figures.
  • Develop and maintain good employee relations with other Departments , adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Manage the movement of critical containers into the yard via other external companies.
  • Provide Support to the Senior battery support engineer and the whole of the EV team if required.
  • Work Safely and lead by example and insist that others do too and adhere to all HSE on site.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively as a team.

Key Skills and Competencies Required:

  • EV IMI Level 3 & 4 high voltage qualification
  • Ability to meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work personnel at all levels of the organisation.
  • Keen to continue to improve understanding and knowledge of plant operations/Group strategies to contribute towards the organisation.
  • Hardworking attitude and reliable.
  • Ability to manage own time and responsibilities, with initiative and common sense.
  • Organised coupled with the ability to prioritise effectively.

Jonathan Lee Recruitment is helping the world's largest independent company for development, simulation and testing technology of powertrains to recruit a Battery Management System (BMS) Calibration Engineer with a focus on battery management and hybridised powertrain applications. This full-time role is based in Peterborough and offers a salary of up to £60,000 p.a. and excellent benefits.

 

As a BMS Calibration Engineer, you will be responsible for verifying and optimising the battery management systems of diesel hybrid and fully electrified powertrains. Your objective will be to ensure that all target criteria are met, and that the powertrain (ICE + hybrid electrical) operates at optimum efficiency in all operating conditions.

 

To give you an idea of how this engineering role would look and feel, here are some of the things you could expect to do:

  • Develop and manage new powertrain calibrations using AVL and customer calibration tools and processes
  • Develop and refine BMS test plans and plan/implement BMS and hybrid systems simulation study activities
  • Support conceptualisation studies for future powertrain
  • Analyse test data to understand the operation of the powertrain systems, controllers and calibration
  • Lead assessment of simulation and test results and define next steps
