What You Will Do:

 

- Conduct site visits to survey buildings using tape measures, distance measures, and laser levels.

- Create 2D and 3D CAD site layouts as a draughtsperson.

- Design hot and cold rolled sections using Tekla, design software.

- Develop 3D models of mezzanines and staircases using Tekla Structures, including creating general arrangement layouts for client approval.

- Detail steel connections and coordinate their issuance with expeditors.

- Manage projects from order to completion, liaising with sales, clients, structural engineers, purchasing, production, installation teams, and plant hire companies.

 

What You Will Bring:

 

- A minimum of 3 years' experience using Tekla Structures for structural design, ideally in mezzanine floors or structural steelwork.

- Strong knowledge of structural steel design and fabrication processes.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD and or Tekla, familiarity with British Standards and Eurocodes.

- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with the capability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.

- A minimum of two years' supply chain experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment. - Proficiency in Excel and ideally an MRP system, as well as strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including V-lookups and pivot tables. - Exceptional organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to analyse data effectively. - A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and teamwork. - Experience in planning, stock control, and inventory analysis is highly desirable.

The Opportunity
We’re looking for an ambitious Construction Estimator who’s ready to take the next step in their career. This role is ideal for someone with solid estimating experience in the construction/fit-out sector and experience in project management.

You'll play a pivotal role in pricing and tendering exciting projects while gaining hands-on exposure to project delivery — making this a rare chance to transition into a dual role or eventually step fully into project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for fit-out and refurbishment projects
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates
  • Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure precise pricing
  • Support project managers with handovers, planning, and early-stage project setup
  • Opportunity to assist or lead smaller projects as PM, depending on experience
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in estimating processes and project delivery

About You

  • 2+ years of experience as a Construction Estimator (fit-out or interior refurbishment preferred)
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of buildability
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • A desire to grow into or further develop your career as a Project Manager
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive in your approach
  • Relevant construction qualification or degree (preferred but not essential)
  • A full driving licence and the ability to commute to Brierley Hill.
