Mechanical Field Service Engineer
UK-Wide Field Role | Workshop & Site-Based | Heavy Industry
£35,000 + Overtime + Company Van
The Opportunity
- We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a specialist engineering team supporting customers across the UK heavy industrial sector.
- This is a hands-on, varied role split between workshop engineering and field service work, carrying out installation, maintenance, fault finding, and repair on mechanical systems used in demanding environments such as quarries, foundries, steel plants, and processing facilities.
- You’ll be trusted as a key engineer responsible for keeping critical plant and equipment running reliably.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Field Service Engineer / Mechanical Fitter, you will:
- Install, service, and repair mechanical plant and industrial equipment
- Carry out pipefitting, pipework installation, and mechanical assembly
- Diagnose and repair faults on:
- Industrial pumps and pumping systems
- Electric motors and drive systems
- Bearings and rotating machinery
- Pneumatic systems (and associated components)
- Complete workshop-based refurbishment, rebuilds, and preparation work
- Attend customer sites across the UK to carry out planned and reactive maintenance
- Work in heavy industrial environments including quarries, foundries, and manufacturing plants
- Provide technical support and on-site problem solving for customers
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to engineering standards
About You (What We’re Looking For)
We are keen to speak with candidates who have experience as a:
Field Service Engineer (Mechanical)
Mechanical Fitter
Maintenance Engineer
Plant Fitter / Plant Engineer
Industrial Service Engineer
Workshop / Site Engineer
You will ideally have:
- Strong mechanical engineering background (time-served or equivalent)
- Proven pipefitting and mechanical assembly experience
- Hands-on experience with pumps, motors, bearings, and rotating equipment
- Exposure to pneumatic systems (hydraulics also beneficial)
- Experience working in heavy industry (quarry, foundry, steel, aggregates, etc.)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently on field assignments
- Full UK driving licence
The Role & Working Pattern:
- Approx. 40 hours per week
- Split between workshop and UK field service work
- Early Friday finish (when workload allows)
- UK-wide travel with occasional overnight stays
- Typically 3–4 nights away per month
- Around 4 weeks per year on extended assignments

Management Accountant - Worcestershire
Our client is a recognised and successful family business who provide top-quality construction tools, site supplies and consumables across the UK. In support of their continued growth and market activity, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Management Accountant who will be the day-to-day head of the finance department. This person will lead a team of five and report directly to the Managing Director.
This is not simply a month-end reporting job. The role is for someone who understands how a stock-intensive distribution business makes money, along with running a disciplined finance function and uses the numbers to help the management and senior leadership team, improve the business.
Based at their offices in Worcester, the Management Accountant will:
- Own the day-to-day finance function, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, debtor and creditor transactions, cash collection and supplier payments.
- Produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts, divisional and branch P&Ls and useful management information.
- Analyse sales, gross margin, EBITDA, costs and variances and explain what is really driving performance.
- Maintain strong control of debtors, creditors, stock and working capital, including debtor days, creditor days, stock turns and return on working capital.
- Own rolling cash-flow forecasting and coordinate annual budgets and forecasts.
- Provide customer, product and divisional profitability analysis and identify margin leakage.
- Support pricing, purchasing and operational decisions with clear commercial analysis.
- Improve NetSuite reporting, financial controls, process discipline and data quality.
- Support acquisitions, integration and other commercial or improvement projects when required.
- Lead, manage and develop the five-person finance team, setting clear standards and priorities.
Ideally CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified, although consideration would be made for an exceptional qualified-by-experience candidate. Preference is for someone from distribution, merchanting, wholesale, manufacturing or another stock-intensive SME.
- Proven management accounting and financial control experience.
- Previous responsibility for managing an accounts or finance team.
- Strong practical experience of debtors, creditors, cash collection and supplier payment processes.
- Excellent understanding of P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and stock.
- Commercially strong, curious and willing to challenge when the numbers do not make sense.
- Strong Excel and data skills and comfortable with ERP systems; NetSuite experience would be particularly valuable.
- Able to work directly with an entrepreneurial Managing Director and turn financial information into practical actions.

As a Senior P&E Calibration Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, validating, and releasing calibration strategies for internal combustion engines and aftertreatment systems. Working alongside experienced Principal Engineers, you'll take ownership of calibration activities that directly influence engine performance, emissions compliance, and product quality. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute calibration test plans to meet project objectives, quality standards, and delivery timings.
- Carry out calibration development and validation activities on engine dynos and machine platforms, including climatic testing.
- Develop and optimise emissions-critical systems, including: Combustion systems (spark and compression ignition), Fuel injection equipment, Air handling systems (turbocharger and EGR) & Aftertreatment technologies (NOx reduction, DPF/PN filtration)
- Deliver robust calibration datasets covering: Base engine performance and emissions, Aftertreatment performance and control (deNOx, DPF) & Engine and aftertreatment diagnostics.
- Work closely with Principal Engineers to ensure calibration strategies meet current and future legislative requirements.
- Analyse test data, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement effective calibration solutions.
- Document technical findings and confidently present progress to project stakeholders.
- Support the successful delivery of work packages through the NPIP (New Product Introduction Process).
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative and reliable engine calibration solutions.
Experience & Skills
- Hands-on engine calibration, engine testing, or dyno development experience.
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engine fundamentals, emissions formation, and aftertreatment systems.
- Experience using calibration tools, engine management systems, and data analysis software.
- Practical experience planning and running engine tests, analysing results, and resolving technical issues.
- A proactive approach to problem solving with strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience with Tier I supplier engine management systems or model-based control strategies.
- Exposure to engine or aftertreatment hardware development.
- Knowledge of off-highway emissions legislation.
- Experience working within a structured product development or NPI environment.
