As a Software Engineer, you will be developing software in LabVIEW and TestStand for a variety of new test equipment solutions. You will also be developing drivers, software modules and test sequences, involving core functions such as instrumentation, data acquisition, signal conditioning and processing techniques.

 

In your first few weeks in this Software Engineer role, you can expect to:

  • Design, write and document code that is maintainable, extensible, reliable and efficient
  • Participate in design reviews, including preliminary and critical design reviews
  • Undertake integration and validation
  • Liaise with customers on specific projects and their software, testing and user interface requirements
  • Translate system specification into software module specification.

 

 To apply for this Software Engineer role, you will need demonstrable experience of software design in the Test & Measurement industry. You will also require the following:

  • LabVIEW & TestStand experience (CLD minimum desirable)
  • Knowledge of PXI (NI, Pickering, Keysight), Compact RIO, PC, and FPGA

Senior Design Engineer (Motorcycles) (part hybrid role)

Our client is a highly recognised motorcycle brand with real heritage in the UK and internationally. As the oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production, we are seeking a Senior Design Engineer where, as part of the Global Technical Organisation and reporting to the Lead Engineer, you will be involved working from concept stage through to the start of production.

You will work with established cross-functional teams in Industrial Design, Product Development and Genuine Motorcycle Accessories but predominantly support the global Vehicle Development Engineering Team to ensure that product projects are delivered accurately, meeting the requirements from all departments.

Your key responsibilities will include:

-    Develop suspension, tyres, chassis geometry, braking systems and ergonomics for new and updated chassis projects, considering function, cost and product requirements.

-    Produce excellent quality inspection data.

-    Produce excellent quality 2D inspection drawings.

-    Develop and help maintain development and test procedures.

-    Follow development and test procedures.

-    Produce supporting documentation for development tests and activities, as required.

-    Liaise with internal departments such as, Product Strategy, Industrial Design, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality and Assembly.

-    Liaise with external suppliers.

-    Consider and comply with regulatory requirements where needed.

-    Have a good understanding of the application of regulatory requirements for motorcycles.

-    Manage their own time and workload effectively.

-    Create and manage timing plans for their areas of responsibility.

-    Mentor new engineers within the team.

-    Support with the training and development of engineers.

-    Provide guidance to other team members where required.

-    Represent the development team in interdepartmental meetings in the absence of the team leader or lead engineer.

-    Plan and conduct UK and overseas tests, responsible for the whole team including riders, technicians, engineers and external contractors during development activities.

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of motorcycle projects on time and in full. The role will begin at the early concept stage working with the product strategy department where you will be responsible to conduct benchmark testing to set early development targets. The responsibility will then move to developing the motorcycle project with

the chassis engineering team to reach the dynamic targets set. The Engineer will then support the validation process to ensure the motorcycle maintains the dynamic targets set at early

concept stage.

Based from their offices in Leicester but with a hybrid working arrangement (following a successful completion of probation), candidates should have/be:

-    Qualified to degree level or similar

-    Proficient in producing 2D inspection drawings and be proficient in the use of 3D measuring systems

-    Have minimum 2-years of experience in a similar role in a motorcycle environment

-    Past experience in engineering design and chassis set up of motorcycles where possible.

-    Good knowledge of suspension systems, tyres, wheels and braking systems on board vehicle.

-    Good understanding of automotive/motorcycle geometry, chassis layout, ergonomics and chassis construction.

-    Practical experience of vehicle maintenance and preparation along with suspension unit service and maintenance is advantageous

-    Experience in chassis development testing.

-    Some experience in 3D CAD design; knowledge of CREO is advantageous - other CAD software would be actively considered

Where possible, you should also have the following experience:

-    Literate in Google Suite / MS Office software

-    Knowledge or / interest in chassis and systems development and testing        

-    Knowledge of motorcycle design and development process preferred

-    Understanding of PLM systems        

-    Past experience in development tests.

Controls Engineer - Gloucester

We are working with a globally positioned designer and manufacturer of specialist capital automated manufacturing equipment company based in Gloucester.  Supporting a truly international customer base, they are seeking a Controls Engineer to provide Controls System development in support of their position in the lead acid battery manufacturing industry.

With continued growth and from their plant in the UK, the job description is:

-    Carry out a range of PLC, HMI and Motion Control programming and modification work.

-    Carry out software & hardware configuration of networked control systems with distributed Input Output (IO).

-    Carry out the programming and integration of vision systems for inspection & measurement using Cognex or similar products.

-    Control system support of prototype, new machine builds and existing equipment in the field.

-    Ensure and oversee machine safety to the relevant international standards and practices.

-    Prepare support documentation to assist both machine manufacture, testing and customer documentation packages.

-    Provide customer support and be prepared to travel on site as required. 

-    To identify opportunities for process, productivity and quality improvements.

-    To adhere to and always apply all workplace management rules consistently.

-    To actively participate in product development and improvement.

-    Develop effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholder, customers and suppliers to ensure best outcomes for the company.

Person Specification

-    Qualified to HNC / HND or equivalent in a Software related discipline.

-    Proven experience of PLC, HMI and motion programming preferably using Rockwell Logix platform, Safety PLC, Kinetix motion control, Studio 5000 and FTViewME. Siemens Control systems & TIA portal advantageous. 

-    Knowledge and programming of robotic applications preferred (Yaskawa preferred).

-    Knowledge of vision systems preferable

-    Excellent communication skills, both written and orally.

-    Self-motivated and enthusiastic and able to communicate at all levels.

-    Positive attitude with ability to work within culturally diverse environments.

-    Helpful and supportive approach to resolution of technical challenges 

-    Receptive and adaptable to change. 

-    Able to travel internationally to customer sites. Travel is approximately 2-3 weeks in duration for 4-5 times per annum but will vary depending on projects.

-    Current passport and fully Covid vaccinated to allow international travel.
