Production Manager – Unit / Spindles

Our client, Yamazaki Mazak, is a leading global machine tool manufacturer with a long-standing reputation for engineering excellence and innovation. Based at their Worcester facility, this is an opportunity to join a well-established business in a key leadership position, responsible for delivering operational performance within the Unit / Spindles production area.
The Role
Reporting into senior operations management, you will be responsible for leading production teams, driving performance against key operational targets and ensuring the successful delivery of the A-Line production plan. This role requires a strong people leader with experience managing production operations within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Chair monthly Health, Safety and Environmental performance reviews
- Take overall responsibility for departmental 5S standards
- Establish and deliver departmental KPIs (SQDCP)
- Sign off departmental capability to deliver the A-Line plan
- Lead teams to achieve on-time delivery targets
- Generate and present W21 reports, ensuring productivity and capacity targets are achieved
- Create and manage production action and recovery plans
- Plan and allocate resources in line with production requirements
- Drive productivity improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage departmental budgets
- Lead recruitment activities within the department
- Develop and support departmental supervisors through structured development plans
- Complete performance reviews and appraisals
- Manage disciplinary, attendance and performance-related matters
- Coordinate training activities to support operational objectives
- Manage Pro-Team and Pro-Time systems
- Work closely with Machining and General Assembly teams to ensure production targets are achieved
Essential
- Strong focus on quality, productivity and continuous improvement
- Excellent planning and communication skills
- Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to motivate and develop teams
- Strong understanding of resource planning and production scheduling
- Experience delivering operational and business performance targets
- Experience managing NPI projects
- Commitment to maintaining high workplace standards and 5S principles
Desirable
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages
- Experience developing supervisors and succession planning
- Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes
