Maintenance Supervisor
A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking a capable and driven Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day activities of its maintenance team. This role is suited to an experienced Maintenance Engineer or Team Leader looking to step into a leadership position, with responsibility for ensuring equipment reliability, safety compliance, and continuous improvement across operations.
The Role
The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the safe, effective supervision of maintenance activities, supporting production by maintaining high equipment uptime and ensuring compliance with industry and company standards. The role requires strong leadership, technical understanding, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising and supporting Maintenance Engineers and Team Leaders on shift
- Allocating work effectively to meet both production and maintenance priorities
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to improve performance and capability
- Leading by example to promote high standards of behaviour, safety, and workmanship
- Supporting disciplinary processes in line with company procedures alongside HR
- Managing budgets across maintenance activities and supporting Capex planning for new equipment
- Understanding and monitoring cycle time and TAKT time to support production efficiency
- Driving performance against key KPIs such as machine availability, OLE, MTBF, and MTTR
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards and IATF 16949 requirements
- Driving equipment improvements through PLC and LabView systems
- Supporting production and other departments with IT and technical expertise where required
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience within a maintenance environment (OEM or Tier 1 preferred)
- Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations
- Basic knowledge of IATF 16949 (training can be provided)
- Strong problem-solving skills with a logical approach
- Experience in people management or team leadership
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions
- PC literate, with working knowledge of SAP systems
- Flexible approach to working hours, including additional support when required
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience as a Team Leader, Shift Lead, or acting Supervisor
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems and breakdown analysis
- Exposure to continuous improvement (CI) tools and methodologies
- PLC programming knowledge
- ABB robot programming experience
- Familiarity with Atlas Copco systems, including drivers and SCA dispensing equipment
