Wheel Designer - Permanent or Contract (Outside IR35) position.

A Wheel Designer is required to join a truly remarkable company who is an exclusive and prestigious luxury vehicle modifier for the UK and global markets.  The Wheel Designer will be joining an established Design Team and will be working on several fantastic new exciting projects for exclusive brands.  The company is a true end to end UK manufacturer ‘one of a kind’ in the aftermarket sector with a design focus that has always been 'OEM Plus' appealing to a customer base looking to achieve a little more individuality with their vehicle with premium components, while remaining respectful to the original designs of the manufacturer.

Our client is looking for an experienced Wheel Designer to work on high-end bespoke alloy wheel projects, to support the design, development and production delivery of their bespoke alloy wheels.  Working closely with the Design and Manufacturing teams, you will be responsible for creating production-ready CAD models for alloy wheels, ensuring they meet aesthetic intent, structural requirements and manufacturing constraints.  This role requires a strong understanding of wheel construction, manufacturing processes and tolerancing, with the ability to translate design surfaces and concepts into manufacturable 3D models.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in a similar role from within automotive, wheel design or high-end product development
  • Proven experience designing and modelling alloy, cast or forged wheels
  • Knowledge of wheel standards and testing requirements
  • Experience with interpreting 2D sketches, Alias surface data, and engineering requirements into manufacturable CAD along with Alias surface modelling
  • Solid understanding of wheel manufacturing processes along with finishing and coating methods
  • Understanding of tolerancing and mechanical constraints
  • Team player with good communication skills and able to work under tight time constraints on multi projects at any one time
  • There would also be the opportunity to contribute to other vehicle components as necessary

This role can be available as a Contract (Outside IR35) or Permanent position, full time onsite at their magnificent modern offices in Milton Keynes.
