As a Product Development Engineer, you’ll help shape practical, manufacturable products for the agricultural sector, from early concept through design verification and into production. If you have exposure in designing products, components and systems within sheet or fabricated steel while enjoying solving problems, collaborating across technical teams, and seeing ideas turn into working solutions, this Product Development Engineer position is a fantastic opportunity to grow your craft.
The Product Development Engineer will:
- Own the design and development of allocated product families, including conveyors, weighers, silos, hoppers, storage systems and large industrial containers, delivering improvements from concept to production.
- Create accurate 2D and 3D designs and engineering drawings, plus technical documentation and engineering calculations where appropriate.
- Develop solutions that balance functionality, manufacturability, materials, cost, quality and waste.
- Coordinate prototypes and support product testing and verification, ensuring results are captured and used to strengthen the design.
- Contribute to product compliance by working closely with the Product Compliance Manager on technical files, documentation and design evidence.
- Manage development tasks and project timelines, providing clear progress updates and technical support to Production when issues arise.
As a Product Development Engineer, you will bring:
- Experience taking responsibility for engineering design and development activities, ideally across the full lifecycle from requirements to verification and implementation.
- Competence using 2D CAD and 3D CAD software, ideally with Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks, alongside strong Microsoft Office skills.
- A solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and designing for manufacture associated with sheet or fabricated steel and structures, plus the ability to investigate technical problems and develop workable solutions.
- Good organisational skills to manage multiple priorities, combined with confident communication across Design, Production and Compliance.
