Paralegal – Dunton, Essex – Up to £33.70 per hour (Umbrella)
6 months rolling – (Inside IR35)
Hybrid – 4 days office / 1 day home
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Paralegal to join the Legal Office of a major financial services organisation based in Dunton, Essex.
This is a broad legal support role, working closely with the Legal team and wider business on consumer complaints, litigation, regulatory matters and legal research, alongside supporting the Company Secretary and corporate governance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support customer complaints, litigation and regulatory projects.
- Monitor compliance with relevant laws, regulations, regulatory guidance and company policies.
- Undertake legal research and analysis to support the Legal team.
- Assist with onboarding and processing invoices for external counsel and litigation reporting.
- Support the Company Secretary with Board packs, meeting minutes and related activities.
- Coordinate Board, Committee and senior governance meetings, including scheduling, logistics and document management.
- Prepare, compile, proofread and distribute Board and Committee packs within agreed deadlines.
- Assist with the preparation, review and maintenance of Board and Committee minutes and records.
- Work collaboratively with Legal and business teams across areas including Compliance, Operations and Accounting.
Skills & Experience
- Working knowledge of UK consumer credit law and the regulatory framework applicable to a UK bank.
- Strong legal research, issue-spotting and analytical skills.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience working with senior stakeholders.
- Experience supporting a Company Secretary, corporate governance function, Board of Directors or Board Committees would be advantageous.
- Experience preparing Board papers, packs, agendas and minutes would be desirable.
- Confident working with senior executives, Directors and Non-Executive Directors.
- Strong document management and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, along with document collaboration platforms.
- Professional and discreet when handling confidential information.
Education / Qualifications
Candidates should have either:
- A Law degree from a UK university; or
- A degree and have passed the PGDL; or
- Experience working as a Paralegal within a law firm or bank.
Please note: this Paralegal position is confirmed inside IR35 and the advertised rate of up to £33.70 per hour is the Umbrella rate.
