NEW JOB VACANCY IN SHROPSHIRE – CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Are you an experienced Control Systems Engineer, Applications Engineer, Software Engineer, Systems Engineer, V&V Engineer or Senior Control Systems Engineer seeking a new job opportunity, and are you looking for a role within Shropshire (or are you open to relocating to Shropshire)?!
We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join a leading Agri-Tech business in Shropshire, this is working a fixed day shift pattern (37 hours per week) and the annual salary is up to £65,000 per annum (DOE), the hiring manager is looking for someone who will be based in the office 5 days per week, there is an opportunity to work from home 1 day per week every 2 weeks, and a relocation package can be offered for someone who lives more than 2 hours away from Shropshire and is prepared to move to the area.

This role would suit a practical person who is excited by making their designs reality, and suitable for a candidate that wants to make a difference, and be part of an exciting journey into advanced engineering relating to the agricultural sector. The primary focus of the role will be relating to the electronic control systems and architecture development of a 50-75hp electric and hybrid tractor.
What You Will Do:
- Translate system requirements into control functions and clear software requirements for a Control Systems Engineer role.
- Develop reusable, maintainable software functions, and analyse system behaviour to optimise control performance, particularly for power management in a hybrid/powertrain setup.
- Contribute to vehicle-level functional architecture by allocating control functions, and help define system states, modes, diagnostics and failure responses.
- Support HIL/SIL rig development, then lead debugging, commissioning and regression testing of the control system on prototype tractors.
- Build test cases and validation criteria for control functions, ensuring robust evidence for performance and reliability.
- Help manage vehicle fleet software versions, supporting smooth NPI activity and higher engineering standards within the control-systems development process.
What You Will Bring:
- A minimum of 3 – 5 years experience within a similar role – ESSENTIAL
- Previous experience with using Matlab and/or Simulink – ESSENTIAL
- Previous Control systems development experience with one of the following – diesel engine, HV Inverters, Transmission and shifting, Cab, HVAC, HMI or Hydraulic valves – ESSENTIAL
- Experience of Control Systems development for mobility applications or wheel based vehicles – ESSENTIAL
- Confident software development from requirements through to physical validation, including practical experience using tools such as CANalyser, DBC Editor, CANape, and Matlab/Simulink.
- Strong understanding of CAN and communication protocols, ideally CAN/J1939, alongside solid control theory and practical implementation experience.
