Overview:
- We are currently recruitment on behalf of our client for an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our clients Production Engineering team in Sheffield. This is an exciting role supporting the industrialisation, scale-up and continuous improvement of their specialist manufacturing processes.
- The role will work across manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrialisation, equipment introduction and continuous improvement, helping to create stable, repeatable and efficient production processes.
- This role would suit a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, Production Engineer, Industrialisation Engineer or NPI Engineer who enjoys solving manufacturing problems, improving processes and working closely with production and engineering teams.
The Opportunity
You will be involved in the introduction and optimisation of manufacturing processes and equipment, from equipment specification and supplier engagement through to FAT, SAT, commissioning and production handover. This is a hands-on manufacturing engineering role where you will be expected to get close to the process, understand problems at source and work with production and technical teams to implement practical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the industrialisation and scale-up of CCM manufacturing processes.
- Develop, implement and maintain manufacturing standards, including SOPs, process parameters, routings and engineering documentation.
- Support the introduction of new manufacturing equipment and automated systems.
- Contribute to equipment specification, supplier engagement, FAT, SAT, commissioning and production handover.
- Provide hands-on engineering support to production, troubleshooting manufacturing issues and improving process performance.
- Lead and support root cause analysis (RCA) and structured problem-solving activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase yield, throughput, quality and process stability.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques to manufacturing processes.
- Support activities such as Kaizen, 5S and workplace/workflow optimisation where appropriate.
- Support PFMEA/FMEA, risk assessment and engineering change activities.
- Contribute to manufacturing CapEx and capital equipment projects.
- Support factory layout, material flow and production workflow improvements.
- Maintain accurate manufacturing and engineering documentation.
- Capture and develop process knowledge to support repeatable and scalable production.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance and external equipment suppliers to deliver manufacturing improvements.
About You:
We are looking for an engineer with experience in manufacturing, process engineering, production engineering or industrialisation within a technically demanding production environment.
You may currently be working as a: Manufacturing Engineer, Manufacturing Process Engineer, Process Engineer, Production Engineer, Industrialisation Engineer, NPI Engineer, or Continuous Improvement Engineer. You should have experience of some or most of the following:
- Manufacturing or process engineering within a production environment.
- Process optimisation and continuous improvement.
- Manufacturing equipment and/or automated production systems.
- Equipment introduction, commissioning or production handover.
- FAT / SAT and working with equipment suppliers.
- Root cause analysis and structured problem solving.
- Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement / Kaizen.
- PFMEA / FMEA and engineering change management.
- Manufacturing documentation, SOPs and process standards.
- Using manufacturing data to identify and deliver process improvements.
- Interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Coordinating technical or manufacturing projects.
- Working collaboratively with production, engineering, quality and maintenance teams.
- A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification/experience is desirable.
Experience from Other Manufacturing Sectors?
Experience gained within other advanced or technically complex manufacturing environments may be highly transferable, what matters most is your ability to understand manufacturing processes, solve technical problems, introduce and optimise equipment, and drive measurable improvements in production.
