Quality Control Inspector / Quality Inspector
Salary: Competitive
Hours: 37 hours per week | Monday–Friday | Flexible start and finish times
Location: Kidderminster
Overview:
- Are you an experienced Quality Inspector, Quality Control Inspector or Mechanical Inspector with a background in manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or machining?
- We are looking for a Quality Control Inspector to join our Quality team, responsible for inspecting materials, components and finished products throughout the manufacturing process.
- This is a hands-on inspection role covering Goods Inwards, in-process inspection, fabrication, machining, testing and final inspection, with exposure to suppliers, subcontractors, third-party inspectors and customers.
The Role:
As a Quality Control Inspector, you will ensure materials and products meet the required quality standards, engineering specifications and customer requirements before being released to production or despatched.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out Goods Inwards inspection of materials and components against purchase orders and technical requirements.
- Performing dimensional, visual and material traceability inspections.
- Reviewing Material Test Certificates (MTCs), inspection reports, testing documentation and certification.
- Carrying out in-process inspection across machining, fabrication, testing, assembly and packing.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and technical specifications.
- Completing inspection documentation, including Route Cards and quality records.
- Identifying non-conforming materials/products and ensuring they are appropriately quarantined.
- Raising and supporting Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required.
- Witnessing and inspecting pressure/hydrostatic testing and NDT activities.
- Carrying out final inspection and product release prior to despatch.
- Working alongside Third Party Inspectors (TPI), customers, suppliers and subcontractors where required.
- Undertaking inspection activities both onsite and at external supplier/subcontractor locations.
- Maintaining accurate quality documentation and supporting ISO 9001 requirements, audits and continuous improvement activities.
- Supporting the maintenance of safe, clean and organised Goods Inwards and Stores areas.
What We’re Looking For
- We’re interested in speaking with candidates who have experience in a quality inspection role within manufacturing, mechanical engineering, fabrication, machining or a similar technical environment.
You should have:
- Experience as a Quality Inspector, QC Inspector, Quality Control Inspector, Mechanical Inspector or similar.
- A minimum HNC or equivalent technical qualification, ideally in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or fabrication environment.
- The ability to accurately interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Experience with dimensional and visual inspection.
- Practical experience using inspection equipment such as vernier callipers, thread gauges, measuring tapes and other dimensional measuring equipment.
- Understanding of welding inspection and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
- Experience or familiarity with pressure/hydrostatic testing and associated documentation.
- Knowledge of material traceability and Material Test Certificates (MTCs).
- Experience identifying and managing non-conforming products/materials and NCRs.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection and documentation.
- Good communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with production, engineering, purchasing, suppliers and external inspectors.
- A full UK driving licence, as the role can involve off-site inspection activities.

- The role is based on a 37-hour working week with flexible start and finish times.
- Core hours must be covered each day, with:
- Monday–Thursday: 8-hour working day
