Maintenance Technician

Umbrella Rate: £33.98/hr (Inside IR35)
Contract length: up to end of 2026

This company is looking for a Maintenance Technician to keep vehicle manufacturing moving safely, reliably, and efficiently. What You Will Do:
• Carry out planned maintenance and inspections to prevent downtime and keep production equipment running at its best.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns by diagnosing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and robotic faults.
• Use technical drawings, diagnostic tools, and control system information to identify root causes and implement permanent fixes.
• Support continuous improvement by reducing downtime and improving reliability across manufacturing assets.
• Work safely by following lockout/tagout procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work at all times.
• Keep accurate records by updating fault logs, completing shift handovers, and maintaining asset histories in maintenance systems such as SAP.
What You Will Bring:
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience, including PLC-controlled equipment exposure.
• Familiarity with robotics, welding systems, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• The ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals to drive effective repairs.
• Thorough understanding of health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), risk assessments and safe working practices.
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with production teams, engineers and contractors.
• Continuous improvement mindset, supporting operational excellence initiatives such as TPM, Lean Manufacturing and OEE improvement programs.
• NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline, or an Engineering Apprenticeship pathway.
This Maintenance Technician position sits within the manufacturing and engineering sector, supporting the delivery of high-quality output for a major automotive organisation. By maintaining safe, reliable equipment and strengthening reliability through root cause analysis, you will play a direct part in protecting production performance and supporting operational excellence goals, including TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and OEE improvement programmes.
