A growing food manufacturer are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their team. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, supporting preventive maintenance, and working with modern automation in the food manufacturing industry. Expect a team environment, clear priorities, and the chance to develop specialist knowledge while making a measurable impact every shift.
Shift Pattern 4 on 4 off Days
What You Will Do:
– Perform planned preventive maintenance and complete all relevant paperwork to the required standards as a Maintenance Engineer.
– Tackle corrective maintenance quickly and safely to minimise production downtime, including electrical breakdowns and fault finding on pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
– Support continuous improvement by suggesting practical solutions that boost efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
– Help deliver meaningful handovers, including notes and reports, so the next shift engineer is fully informed and supported.
– Assist with risk assessments and maintain strict adherence to health and safety, hygiene, and food safety procedures.
– Work with and coordinate contractor activity on site, ensuring inductions, permits to work, and site rules are followed.
What You Will Bring:
– Proven engineering or maintenance experience, ideally within a fast paced manufacturing or processing environment as a Maintenance Engineer.
– Strong fault-finding ability for electrical breakdowns, plus knowledge of pneumatic systems and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
– Relevant qualifications such as ONC and/or City and Guilds in electrical and/or mechanical engineering, alongside NVQ Level 3 in the relevant discipline and an 18th Edition certificate or equivalent.
– Working knowledge of PLCs, preferably Siemens, and experience with modern automation systems; frequency inverter setup experience is beneficial.
– Confident communication skills, computer literacy for maintenance systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and a proactive, can-do approach.
You will play a key part in protecting health and safety, supporting reliable operations, and continuously improving how the site works.
