Interim Technical Manager, Immediate Start

Rate: £400 per day

Available immediately? We need an experienced Technical Manager to hit the ground running.
We’re working with an established manufacturing business that requires an Interim Technical Manager to provide immediate leadership across its technical function.
This is a hands on, commercially focused role where you’ll work closely with the Managing Director, leading the technical team while driving product development, supporting manufacturing, ensuring product compliance and providing technical expertise across the wider business.
The successful candidate will be an experienced technical leader with a chemistry degree from a manufacturing, engineering, materials science, packaging, materials or product development environment who is comfortable making decisions, solving problems and delivering results from day one.

The Role
You’ll oversee the development of new and existing products, manage testing and certification, provide technical leadership across the business and ensure products continue to meet the highest quality and compliance standards.
This is a varied position combining technical leadership, product development, manufacturing support and project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Technical Department, providing guidance and support to the wider team.
- Drive new product development and continuous improvement across existing product ranges.
- Provide technical leadership across manufacturing, sales and commercial teams.
- Manage technical projects, ensuring deadlines and commercial objectives are achieved.
- Support production by resolving technical issues and improving manufacturing processes.
- Oversee product testing, validation and certification.
- Manage compliance of raw materials and finished products.
- Work closely with suppliers and contract manufacturers to maintain quality standards.
- Lead technical investigations and solve complex engineering and heat transfer challenges.
- Support customer projects with technical advice and product performance data.
- Manage the technical department budget and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support business strategy and future product innovation.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager who can quickly build credibility across the business and confidently lead technical projects from day one.
You’ll ideally have experience within manufacturing, engineering, materials science or a similar technical environment.
You’ll also bring:
- Previous experience as a Technical Manager, Head of Technical, Product Development Manager, Technical Engineering Manager, R and D Manager or Senior Technical Specialist.
- Strong product development and project management experience.
- Knowledge of product testing, certification and regulatory compliance.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and production environments.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to balance innovation with operational delivery.
- A proactive, solutions focused approach and the ability to work at pace.
