Accounts Assistant – Accountancy Practice
Full Time | Permanent
Shrewsbury | Monday–Friday | 37.5 hours
Are you an Accounts Assistant with experience in an accountancy practice, looking for a stable role where you can genuinely develop your skills and build a long term future?
This is a great opportunity to join a well-established professional practice, working with a varied client portfolio in a supportive, team-focused environment. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to accounts preparation, VAT and bookkeeping, with ongoing support and development.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts and management accounts
- Bookkeeping and processing financial records for a range of clients
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns, ensuring deadlines are met
- Supporting compliance work and maintaining accurate financial records
- Liaising with clients and colleagues to deliver work accurately and on time
- Working closely with Managers and Directors on ad hoc projects
- Supporting junior team members when required
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant within an accountancy practice (essential)
- AAT qualified or studying towards AAT (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT and accounts preparation
- Well organised, detail-focused and confident managing multiple deadlines
- A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a team
- Ambitious and keen to build a long-term career in accountancy
