Technical Buyer
Location: Telford | 3-Month Fixed Term Contract (Extension Possible) | Salary DOE

We’re looking for a Technical Buyer who can hit the ground running in a busy engineering and manufacturing business based in Telford. This is a 3-month fixed term contract, created to add immediate purchasing capacity, with the potential to extend for the right Technical Buyer.
If you’re commercially sharp, confident negotiating with suppliers, and comfortable working from engineering drawings to source the right suppliers, this Technical Buyer role offers real scope to add value quickly.
The Role – Technical Buyer
As Technical Buyer, you’ll be responsible for purchasing and expediting parts and services to support live engineering projects and production schedules. Working closely with Engineering and Project Management teams, you’ll ensure spend is controlled, suppliers are challenged, and materials arrive on time.
This Technical Buyer position will suit someone proactive, commercially minded, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing requirements across engineering and production
- Identify and onboard suitable suppliers based on technical drawings
- Issue RFQs and negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms
- Raise and manage purchase orders within ERP/MRP systems
- Expedite deliveries to ensure on-time, in-full supply
- Flag risks, shortages, or delays that could impact production
- Support stock control, shipping, export paperwork, and general purchasing
- Work in line with QHSE policies and procedures
About You – Technical Buyer
- Proven experience within a purchasing/buyer/expediter role
- Comfortable working in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong commercial awareness and confident negotiation skills
- Able to read engineering drawings and select appropriate suppliers
- Proactive, organised, and able to prioritise a demanding workload
- Confident using ERP/MRP systems and MS Office
