Design Engineer – Erdington, Birmingham – Up to £45,000 per annum plus benefits
Do you have aerospace design experience – especially in tyres, landing gear systems, or high-performance components – and want to see your work make a real impact in the skies?
We’re looking for a Design Engineer to join a leading aerospace manufacturer, driving innovation from concept through to serial production.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of the design and development of tyres used across civil and military aviation. You’ll combine your engineering expertise with cutting-edge design tools to ensure every product meets the highest levels of safety, performance, and compliance.
What you’ll be doing:
- Developing tyre design parameters in line with airworthiness and aircraft manufacturer requirements.
- Producing design definitions including geometry, specifications, tolerances, and tooling parameters.
- Supporting the creation of new design toolsets and performance analysis methods.
- Coordinating tyre qualifications with both customers and regulatory authorities.
What we’re looking for:
- BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (MSc an advantage).
- 3+ years’ product design experience (preferably aerospace, automotive, or tyres).
- Proficiency in CAD (Solidworks/AutoCAD) and familiarity with FEA (Abaqus).
- Strong analytical, organisational, and project management skills.
- A proactive team-player with excellent communication abilities.
