Senior CNC Programmer
Location: Carnforth, Lancashire
Reporting to: Production Manager
The Senior CNC Programmer will oversee the CNC production team, ensuring that projects are executed with precision and efficiency. In this role, you will be responsible for developing advanced CNC programs, assisting with the creation of production-ready drawings, and ensuring that all products meet quality standards. As a key member of the Production team, you will report to the Production Manager and collaborate with the Development team to bring design concepts into production.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming and Setup: Develop, test, and refine complex CNC programs for wood-based products to meet specifications for precision and efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Oversee the CNC production team, providing mentorship, training, and guidance to maintain high standards and drive continuous improvement.
- CAD: Utilise CAD to produce design and production ready drawings, ensuring accurate translation of design concepts into the production workflow.
- SolidWorks: Utilise SolidWorks to create detailed models and convert into machine-readable formats for automated production
- Quality Control: Perform regular checks on CNC programs and outputs, ensuring they meet production and quality standards, and make adjustments as necessary
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Quickly identify and resolve any programming or machine-related issues to minimise downtime and optimise production.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve programming workflows, enhance efficiency, and implement best practices across the CNC team.
- Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate regular maintenance and prompt repairs of CNC machines, ensuring optimal operation and minimising disruptions.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all team members follow health and safety protocols, maintaining a safe and organised workspace.
Key Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC programming within a wood-based manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in CAD and SolidWorks, with the ability to create detailed, production-ready drawings. Experience with G-code programming and interpreting technical specifications is essential.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading or mentoring a team, with strong communication and organisational abilities.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Skilled in troubleshooting programming and operational issues, with a proactive approach to resolving challenges.
- Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Qualifications: A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in CNC programming, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
