Production Supervisor – 3-month FTC
Based near Kingswinford (West Midlands) and as a day shift Production Supervisor reporting to the Operations Director, your primary responsibility will be to lead and manage all aspects relating to manufacturing processing areas within the business. This is an URGENT 3-month fixed term contract, which could be extended.
Based on stamping and assembly operations into the medical and automotive sectors, you will provide direction and support to your team members, managing and facilitating staff performance and development, and ensuring skills continue to be developed to meet changing business requirements. You will be the key player to ensure quality driven processes & a safety orientated workplace.
This is hands-on management role and is seeking a process driven, team focused and experienced people manager.
On a daily basis you will be responsible for the management of resources to achieve the operational plan. Key responsibilities will include:
- Ability to lead and motivate the Manufacturing team with discipline and clear direction.
- Ensure that health and safety guidelines / procedures are always followed.
- Ensure the principles and measures of safety are implemented and practiced.
- Ensure all safety metrics are communicated to management and team members on a weekly basis.
- Ensure production plans are communicated on a daily/weekly basis and delivered on time in full.
- Ensure OEE & Labour Efficiency is monitored and achieved hourly / daily / weekly / monthly.
- Ensure internal PPM is maintained and a continuous reduction in the total defect ratio is achieved.
- Ensure all 8D reporting concerns & countermeasures are managed and communicated to/from quality.
- Create, control and maintain resource capacity plans.
- Create a reportable dashboard on all manufacturing information to produce a high-level picture of planned performance versus actual.
- Design, manage and maintain a platform for manufacturing data.
- Identify and coordinate with HR and General Manager any specific training needs in the team.
- Manage and organise employee annual performance review/appraisal process.
- Manage & monitor team holidays, sickness, disciplinary and absenteeism.
- Work with Plant Maintenance Leader to ensure any equipment preventative maintenance is planned and manageable to the schedule.
Performance measured on, (to include but limited to):
- Operational Excellence – OTIF (On time, in Full to Production Plan).
- Operational Excellence – Labour productivity & utilisation (TEEP).
- Operational Excellence – Operational Efficiency (OEE) & Operator Performance.
- HSE – LTIs, Near Misses, Observation cards.
- Quality – Internal Quality PPM.
- Quality – Cost of Poor Quality.
- HR – Ownership and development of Skills matrix and training
Note: Manufacturing Metrics reporting will be collated for day/swing/night shift and issued to Senior Management by Day Shift Production Supervisor.
With a focus on continuous improvement and achievement of production goals, you will be a self-driven achiever, who takes a problem-solving approach to their work and leads their team by example. Ability to work effectively & co-ordinate, changing plans to tight timescales. Stamping (forging/pressing) knowledge is not necessarily required. A supervision qualification would be desirable but not essential.
