Jonathan Lee Recruitment has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and collaborative Powertrain Operations Engineer to join our client's inclusive and successful team. This full-time Powertrain Ops Engineer role is based in Coventry and offers a contract rate of £25.96 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35). This role requires being on site in Coventry typically 2 to 3 times per week. This contract is initially for 11 months.

As a Powertrain Operations Engineer, you will directly influence the quality of products delivered into customers' hands. You will create and maintain the Bill of Sequence and Bill of Process (BoS/BoP) documents.

In your first few weeks in this Powertrain Operations Engineer role, you can expect to:

  • Create and maintain the Bill of Sequence and Bill of Process (BoS/BoP) documents for commodity, in accordance with Manufacturing Engineering (ME), including for the In-Process Test Provision of technical support to the team in order to meet and exceed output targets, including provision of Plans, Information, Material, Instruction and Parts.
  • Create and maintain Process FMEA analysis and associated control and quality plans for Build; Identify and implement in-process and End of Line (EOL) testing and quality checks to ensure safe delivery of prototypes to the agreed quality on time
  • Draft and validate specifications of machines, test equipment and test tooling to meet engineering requirements for Build, Build In-Process Test and End of Line Test Review Build Facilities (including location) and design floor layout based on facilities and equipment requirements and specifications
  • Review requirements from Powertrain Engineering and Manufacturing teams to develop the most efficient and effective Pilot Line, that would support both types of requirements and be an intelligent compromise between design flexibility and manufacturing validation
  • Raise orders to procure Build and Test capability from Engineering Statement of Work to PO
  • Work with suppliers and ensure safe delivery of orders on time and to the agreed quality

Contract Position based at Fen End (hybrid working: at least 2 days/week on site)

Position Description:

Senior Programme Planner responsible for the delivery of Bespoke vehicle programmes

Key Responsibilities

  • Creation of Programme Plans (VPF) from initial concept to Job 1 including clear communication of gateway timing.
  • Alignment of VP programmes with core vehicle programmes.
  • Detail of the programme deliverable status to ensure credibility of status reporting
  • PDL Authorship
  • Delivery of all programme cost targets including, total delivered cost, resource, tooling & facility upgrades.
  • Integration of VP programmes into the core vehicle delivery timing.
  • Support look back activities capturing all lessons learnt to ensure the success of future programme delivery.
  • Maintaining Risk Register to ensure management of mitigation plans by stakeholders.
  • Report programme health through metrics, risks and issues and propose corrective action where required.
  • Generating timing change material to support the Deferral process.
  • Support deliverables and timing through Programme Central as required.
  • Support overall integrity and impartiality towards the delivery of key programme milestones.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Highly driven individual with proven project management, communication and leadership skills
  • Able to integrate and act as pivotal player within a cross functional team to resolve cross-functional issues.
  • Previous evidence of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes, including risk management
  • Experience of PCDS & conversant with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)

Preferred:

  • Understanding of Bespoke delivery processes
  • Understanding Material Engineering
  • Credibility within the programme planning environment and ability to influence others
  • CCDS and Programme Central experience preferred

Education

  • A degree qualified candidate is desirable although relevant experience will be taken into account

A typical test properties consists of a bare body shell that is fitted with only the necessary parts, and a number of supporting 'kits' of parts.
